100 Brands Exhibition Debuts in New York City This Summer

New York– From July 26 through August 7, the Fashion Commission will showcase a curated exhibition featuring clothing and accessories from 100 Saudi designers at the Iron23 building in Manhattan. The exhibition, which first debuted in Riyadh late last year, is split into eight different categories that include ready-to-wear, modest, concept, premiere, demi-couture, bridal, handbags and jewelry. The 100 talented designers, chosen out of nearly 1500 entrants, were tasked with creating a piece that reflects Saudi heritage and culture.

Burak Cakmak, Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission CEO and former Dean of Fashion at Parsons School of Design – The New School, said: “This is the first international exhibition showcasing the diverse creative talent from the Kingdom and their exceptional designs rooted in Saudi heritage and culture. We have chosen New York as the first destination because New York City has always been a center of creativity that celebrates all different cultures around the world”.

The 100 Brands exhibition is part of a larger year-long program that aims to mentor Saudi designers and provide opportunities to showcase their work. Throughout the year, the 100 chosen designers will receive advice from fashion experts across the globe with one-on-one mentoring and informative workshops on topics including design, innovation, marketing and sales strategy.

The exhibition, which runs from July 26 through August 7, is free to the public and is open Monday through Wednesday from 11am – 7pm, Thursday through Saturday from 11am – 8pm and Sunday from 12pm – 6pm at Iron23, located on 29 W 23rd St.
