The international community must cease encouraging the Syrian refugees to stay in Lebanon, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said in remarks made following a Cabinet session at Baabda palace Thursday.
Commenting on Brussels conference, Bassil said the UNHCR report "scared Syrians of returning to Syria."
"Such conduct is suspicious," he considered.
"The international community must cease encouraging the Syrians to stay in Lebanon instead of returning to Syria," he stressed.
"We want to preserve our Lebanon identity," he added.
Bassil mainly objected to the "voluntary and temporary" repatriation of displaced, stated during the conference.
