Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdullatif Derian met, at Dar-al-Fatwa on Monday, with MP Boutros Harb, over an array of local affairs, in top of which the legislative polls.
"We discussed the course of the electoral process across Lebanon, and we maintained that sectarian tensions do not contribute to building the country," Harb told reporters following the meeting.
"Mufti Derian is keen on principles and on people's commitment to national and democratic ethics," he added.
Commenting on the expats' vote, the lawmaker said he expected a higher turnout.
"This is not a negative indicator. On the contrary, this is a good thing that must be improved. The next election law will state that the expatriates vote for lawmakers representing them and not for local MPs," he explained.
