Jafari’s Efforts Prevented Israel From Taking A Seat In The Security Council For Non-Permanent Members

BAGHDAD, The foreign ministry said that the efforts of its minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, have prevented Israel from taking a seat on the Security Council for non-permanent members.

"The efforts of Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, head of the committee to counter Israel's candidacy for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council, have been successful," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said in a statement.

"The Foreign Minister has addressed letters to his Arab and foreign counterparts at the regional and international levels urging them to counter the candidacy of the occupying power to occupy an important position in an international institution that is concerned with the maintenance of international peace and security, which jeopardizes its credibility because of the grave practices and violations committed by the Israeli entity against the Palestinian people and the religious sanctities of Muslims and Christians."
