The Government of Japan funded USD 1.4 Million for the project of improving living conditions of Palestinian Gatherings, which was implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

On the occasion of the completion of a renovation project in Old Saida, on May 10 2018, a delegation from Japanese Embassy attended the closing ceremony organized by UNDP. Through this project, UNDP was able to support a significant number of refugees by improving the physical condition of their shelters and shops in Old Saida.

During the ceremony, Mr. Mitsuhiro Wada, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan, hoped that the Japanese funded rehabilitation will improve the living conditions of the refugees and the overall wellbeing of their community. He also stressed the commitment of the Government of Japan to support development and humanitarian projects implemented all across Lebanon that will benefit both local residents and refugees.
