The Council of Ministers held its regular session at Baaba Presidential Palace at 12:00 pm on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, and the attendance of Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, and Ministers.
The Council is considering an agenda of 83 items, most important of which are the electricity dossier, the general guideline for the development of Rafic Hariri International Airport, the licensing of universities, including the University of St. Georges in Beirut, and other local affairs.
The cabinet session had been preceded by a meeting between President Aoun and PM Hariri.
Prior to the session, Minister of Education, Marwan Hamadeh, confirmed that the official exams of the intermediate certificate -- the Brevet -- would be held on their set date.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Kanso, commented on the possibility of the importing electricity from Syria.
"Meetings have taken place between technicians from both countries, and discussions are at their final stages," the Minister explained, deeming the importation of electricity from Syria the cheapest and fastest way.
