Caretaker Minister of State for Women Affairs, Jean Ogassapian, welcomed the return of Lebanese director Nadine Labaki from the Cannes Film Festival with the Jury Award for her film "Capharnaum".
"This success is a success for every Lebanese who believes in spreading the bright and brilliant image of their homeland, Lebanon, away from a diary laden with pressures, challenges and difficulties," he said.
"On many occasions, Labaki has demonstrated her national and artistic commitment. This is a clear demonstration of the efficiency of Lebanese women and their ability to make the best of their noble motherhood role, and what it bestows upon them of compassion towards the weak, especially children who plaid lead roles in Capharnaum," the minister went on to say.
"We congratulate you, Nadine Labaki, on your humanitarian and artistic achievements, and we wish your bright career all the more success," he said.
