Basra, The Commander of Basra Operations Lieutenant General Jamil al-Shammari announced the seizure of 750 kilograms of drugs, while the operations forces arrested more than 2500 people wanted to the judiciary during the past months.
Al-Shammari explained during a Ramadhan evening, hosted by the Press Syndicate branch in Basra, that the Operations Command, in coordination with the intelligence service, was able to seize large quantities of drugs during the last period which amounted to about 750 kg.
"The security forces of the Operations Command arrested more than 2,500 wanted persons in accordance with arrest warrants issued against them by the judiciary.
Al-Shammari pointed out that the operations command has put in place security plans to provide security for the citizens in Basra in the mosques, the Husayniyat and the public places to practice the religious rituals for the holy month of Ramadhan.
The Commander of Operations, "We have directed the prosecution of those wanted for the judiciary in accordance with the arrest warrants, especially those involved in the blood of citizens and the cause of tribal conflicts.
