Muallem to Bassil: Law No. 10 will not lead to anyone’s expropriation

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said in his letter to caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Gebran Bassil, handed over to the latter by the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdel-Karim Ali, that Law No. 10 issued by the Syrian authorities to regulate areas in Syria guarantees the rights of Syrian citizens inside and outside Syria to claim their rights either personally or through a legal proxy granted to one of their relatives, up to the fourth degree.

Muallem assured in his letter that the law "will not lead to the expropriation of anyone but, on the contrary, will determine the rights and assets of Syrian citizens and organize them as per the law, especially in light of property changes and proxy frauds that occurred in areas controlled by terrorists."

He stressed that "Syrian citizens have enough time, since the date of issuance of the law, to prepare their property certificates, either in their possession or through the issuance of copies from the departments of real estate, and within a period of not more than a few days," stressing "the keenness of the Syrian government on its citizens and its appeal to them to return home," expressing "willingness to provide them with all the requirements for a decent living, especially in light of the continuing decline in areas under terrorists' control."

On a different note, Bassil tackled bilateral relations with Argentina's Ambassador to Lebanon, Ricardo Lareira.
