BAGHDAD Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations pledged to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
In a final statement after the two-day summit in La Malbi, in Quebec, they pledged to ensure a "peaceful" Iranian nuclear program.
For his part, US President Donald Trump said that his friends of G7 leaders expressed their commitment to contain the Iranian "nuclear ambitions" at their summit in Canada.
"The G7 countries are still committed to controlling Iranian nuclear ambitions," Trump said.
Trump left before the end of the summit, where he will travel to Singapore to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in what he called a "peace mission."
