Caretaker Minister of National Defense, Yacoub Sarraf, met on his third and final day in France with his French counterpart Florence Barley.
The meeting dealt with the donation and loans pledged by France at the Rome II Conference to assist the Lebanese Army, and tackled their implementation in accordance with the needs of the LAF in weapons, military equipment and training programs.
Discussions also touched on bilateral relations and means of bolstering them.
Sarraf explained to his host the negative repercussions of the displacement of Syrians on the Lebanese infrastructure, stressing the "right of refugees to return safely to Syria," calling on the international community to "help Lebanon achieve such a return."
The Minister underlined "Lebanon's commitment to international resolutions, especially the 1701, and the ongoing cooperation between the Lebanese Army and the UNIFIL forces," pointing out that "Israel continues to violate Lebanese sovereignty."
For her part, Barley underscored her country's keenness to stand by Lebanon and support its institutions, highlighting the role of the Lebanese Army in maintaining stability and security.
In the same context, Sarraf held a meeting at the General Directorate of Arming, Foreign Relations and French Navy Command.
He concluded his three-day meetings at the Eurosatory 2018 exhibition in Paris, where he was briefed on the latest military technology that could benefit the Lebanese army. He also visited the pavilion of the Lebanese company JBI specialized in the development of thermal monitoring machines.
