Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri met Saturday with Pope of Alexandria, Coptic Patriarch Tawadros II at the House of Center, in the presence of Caretaker Ministers Nohad Machnouk, Jamal Jarrah, Ghattas Khoury and Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nazih Najari.
Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Tawadros expressed his joy for visiting Lebanon, wishing Hariri ultimate success in forming Lebanon's new government.
"Egypt is interested in the peace and stability of Lebanon, especially that both countries have always shared common ties and diversity," Tawadros said.
In turn, Hariri warmly welcomed Pope Tawardos, saying, "Egypt is a mother country for Lebanon."
"The diversity of the two countries is a source of strength, not weakness," he added.
"Lebanon is proud to welcome you, as we hope to maintain continuous communication between our two countries," Hariri concluded.
