Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian stressed that "freedom of political opinion does not mean sedition and provocation of the feelings of Muslims and Lebanese."
The Grand Mufti chaired the Friday prayers at the Mohammad Al-Amine Mosque in Beirut DT, and upon leaving the mosque was greeted with a crowd of people protesting the attacks on PM-designate Saad Hariri.
The Mufti condemned the slander campaign launched against PM-designate Saad Hariri President Saad Hariri and "the misleading attacks against him which have political objectives par excellence. The goals and purposes are well-known; the aim is to hamper his national role and his extensive efforts to form the next government within the constitutional and legal frameworks."
"The Dar El-Fatwa has been and will always be the House of Islamic and national constants, keen on Islamic and national unity and the Arabism of Lebanon in the face of the ongoing challenges," he said.
