Bassil, Abdul Mahdi meet in Baghdad, agree to encourage tourism and investment exchange

Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Gebran Bassil, and the accompanying delegation on the second day of his visit to Baghdad, met with Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Adel Abdul-Mahdi, with an in-depth examination of bilateral relations and joint files.

An agreement was reached on the following: Facilitating entry procedures between the two countries to encourage tourism and exchange of investments; Working on establishing an economic market including Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria; Agreeing on a meeting of foreign, economic and energy ministers in Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan; Constructing gas and oil transmission pipelines and railway lines for transporting sand and cargo.

They also agreed to hold the Joint Ministerial Committee and Minister Bassil promised that "after the formation of the government, Lebanon will deal with the Iraqis equal to expatriates from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, by abolishing the demand for pre-booking and the amount of two thousand dollars."
