Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Rahi met Tuesday in Bkirki with Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lebanon, Hamad al-Shamsi, who greeted his host upon the holy season.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, the Ambassador indicated that talks touched on the Pope's imminent visit to the UAE, deeming as "historic."
"The UAE is today amongst the states calling for peace and tolerance," al-Shamsi said.
He added that talks also touched on the governmental issue.
"This is an internal Lebanese affair; but what matters to the state of Emirates is Lebanon's stability and the soon government formation," he said.
"The UAE always supports any matter that serves this dear country's stability," he underlined.
Separately, Rahi met with MP Ali Osseiran over the current situation.
