Baghdad, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Ankara will launch a new military operation in northern Syria "within days", targeting Kurdish fighters backed by US forces east of the Euphrates.
"We will begin the process to cleanse East Euphrates from separatist terrorists within a few days," Erdogan said in a speech at a defense industry conference in Ankara, added "Our goal will never be US soldiers. "
He added "This step will allow for a political solution and better cooperation."
Ankara has repeatedly expressed disappointment at what it calls a delay in the implementation of Manbaj agreement and said last month that the deal should be fully implemented by the end of the year.
Turkish and US troops began joint patrols in northern Syria last month. But this cooperation complicated after Turkey bombed Kurdish fighters east of the Euphrates River.
