Australia officially recognizes West Quds as the capital of Israel

BAGHDAD, Australia officially recognized West Quds as the capital of Israel without a decision to move the Embassy to it immediately.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters in Sydney on Saturday that Australia now recognizes West Quds, where it is the headquarters of the Knesset and many government institutions, the capital of Israel.

"We are looking to move our embassy to West Quds when it is practical," he said.

Morrison said in October he was ready to move the embassy.

The decision by US President Donald Trump to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Al-Quds in May led to a sense of complacency and anger among the Palestinians and the concern of the Arab world and Western allies.
