Baghdad, The Secretary General of the Ministry of Peshmerga General Jabbar Yawar said there is an understanding between the Kurdistan region and the federal government on cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the army.
"There is a common understanding between the federal defense ministry and the Peshmerga that the elimination of terrorist movements in the provinces of Salahuddin, Diyala and Nineveh requires joint operations between the Peshmerga and the army," Yawar said in a televised statement according to the website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
He added, "The two sides understand that the cooperation and coordination between the army and the Peshmerga is very necessary to end the presence of Daesh organization," he said. "We are waiting for a joint meeting between the two sides to discuss this coordination and joint cooperation and the volume of joint security operations."
