National Defense Minister, Elias Bou Saab, welcomed on Thursday visiting British Minister for Middle East and International Development, Alistair Burt, in the presence of British Ambassador to Lebanon, Chris Rampling.
For his part, Burt reiterated the UK's support for the Lebanese military. "The position taken by the UK towards Hezbollah will not affect relations with the Lebanese state and the Lebanese army," the UK Minister confirmed.
In turn, Bou Saab stressed that the British stance vis-A-vis Hezbollah solely concerned the United Kingdom.
"Hezbollah has municipality heads and MPs elected by the people; it also has ministers representing it in the government," Bou Saab explained.
Moreover, he expressed satisfaction with the continued British support for the Lebanese military establishment. He also expressed interest in developing relations between the Lebanese and British armies and expanding the horizons of cooperation between them.
