BaqubaA security official in Diyala warned of the collapse of the security situation in the Waqf basin after the withdrawal of the popular mobilization forces.
"The withdrawal of the popular mobilization forces from the Waqf basin north-east of Baquba creates a loophole that could be exploited by Daesh organizations in carrying out terrorist attacks," Awad al-Rubaie, head of the security committee in the Abu Sayya district council told the NINA.
"The main reason for the withdrawal of the popular mobilization forces is due to the lack of cooperation of the military formations with the popular mobilization forces in completing the pages of the military operation which was launched a few weeks ago to eliminate the Daesh cells," he said, stressing that the spread of popular mobilization forces in the past period contributed to the stability of security in the region.
Dozens of people from al-Mukhisa village came out with a peaceful demonstration in protest against the withdrawal of the popular mobilization from their areas.
