BAGHDAD, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that "Iran's stand with the Iraqi and Syrian peoples in the fight against terrorism is a duty for us and it is not privileged.
"Our stand with the two peoples is a moral obligation imposed on us by our brothers in religion, neighborliness and the values of the true Islamic religion," the Iranian president said during a meeting with tribal leaders and media leaders this morning at the prime minister's guesthouse.
Rouhani said that his meetings with the Iraqi President, Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament were fruitful and constructive and would lead to more cooperation in various fields.
He noted that he agreed with Iraqi officials to coordinate positions on many international issues that need advice and coordination, especially as our region needs such cooperation as a result of the risks it faces.
Rouhani added, "We are keen to cancel visas between pilgrims (visitors) to Iraq and Iran and in the near future we will work to satisfy the parties and serve the visitors of the two countries and also adopt the national currency in both countries.
