Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, strongly condemned the terrorist carnage that targeted two mosques in New Zealand earlier on Friday.
Words fail to describe such brutality, the House Speaker said.
Accordingly, Berri cabled condolences to the Governor-General of New Zealand, Patsy Reddy, offering his heartfelt regret at the loss of many victims in this massacre. He also wished a quick recovery for the wounded.
Berri sent a similar cable to New Zealand House Speaker, Trevor Mallard, and Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern.

Later during the day, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber, visited Berri with a delegation representing Qatar Football Association. The Qatari delegation presented a shield to the House Speaker, as well as a shirt of the World Cup 2020 to be hosted by Qatar.
In the afternoon, Berri received Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, who briefed him on the security situation and a number of issues related to the army.
