Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, on Thursday held a series of meetings in the United States on the sidelines of the annual meeting to assess US aid to the Lebanese army.
In this framework, Maj. Gen. Aoun met with met with the Chairman of the United States House Committee on Appropriations of the US Congress, Harold Rogers, Harold Rogers, who has visited Lebanon on several occasions.
At the end of the meeting, Rogers assured General Aoun that the United States would continue to support the army.
The army commander then met with the US Senator of Lebanese origin, Darin Lahoud, with whom he discussed the general situation in the region and its impact on Lebanon especially Syrian refugees.
The meeting emphasized the role of the army in preserving internal stability.
General Aoun also met with Adam Kinzinger, a member of the US Congress Foreign Relations Committee, who recently visited Lebanon delegated by the United Nations.
The army commander also met with James Reese, chair of the international relations commission, and Jean Chahine, chairman of the foreign relations committee in the House of Representatives.
