Embassy of India, Beirut, participated in "Nations Day Festival" held at iconic Zaitunay Bay in Beirut on 5, 6, 7 July 2019.
In a press release by the Indian Embassy in Beirut, it said: "The event was organized by Beirut Golden Awards and held under the patronage of Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri. "Nations Day Festival", with its colorful theme of diversity, attracted people from all walks of life.
To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, theme of the Indian pavilion at the Festival was the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. Books on life and message of Mahatma Gandhi were distributed. Animated documentary on quotations of Mahatma Gandhi was screened. Also, a video recording of famous Lebanese Singer Ms. Abeer Nehme rendering of Mahatma's favorite devotional song "Vaishnav Jan To" was screened. The message of peace and non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi was greatly appreciated by visitors.
Apart from this, the Indian pavilion show-cased Indian dresses, Indian cuisines, Indian handcrafts etc. Brochures to promote tourism were also distributed.
On the inauguration day, there was also an Indian dance performance by Lebanese artists. These artists have been attending the dance classes conducted by Embassy of India."
