Minister of Culture Mohammad Daoud Daoud welcomed at his ministerial office the cultural advisor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lebanon, Abbas Khama Yar, with talks touching on means to develop relations between the two countries through the reactivation of the cultural agreement signed since 1956.
The counselor relayed to Daoud an official invitation from his Iranian counterpart to visit Tehran for further talks on cultural affairs.
The Iranian official said: "I was very pleased to meet with the minister. We spoke at length about bilateral cultural affairs and the distinguished role played by Lebanon in this field. We also discussed the possibility of hosting a Lebanese cultural week in Tehran, along with the participation of Lebanon in the Tehran International Book Fair."
"The Lebanese people have a special place among the various segments of the Iranian society. Lebanon, the resistance, which respects peaceful co-existence between communities, dialogue of cultures and religions and rapprochement between Islamic sects. Cultural relations between the two countries must thus be the optimal model for others," he said.
