President Michel Aoun received this Friday at the Baabda Palace Minister of Tourism Avedis Guidanian, accompanied by a delegation from the Syndicate of Maritime Tourism Institutions, with talks touching on the conditions of these institutions and what Lebanon has achieved in terms of tourism during the summer season.
"We have briefed His Excellency on the figures recorded in the eight months of the year. The figures are very encouraging and close to those achieved in 2010. European tourists come at the forefront of tourists visitng Lebanon, followed by Arab and Gulf tourists. (...) This is considered an excellent achievement, at a time when we have got more than one security malfunction during this period when the tourist season peaks," the minister said.
"The President gave his instructions to continue working on the European market and new markets, and directed the owners of hotels and accommodation institutions to have a different approach in terms of prices so that to achieve better competitiveness," he added.
