Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdel Karim, on Friday met with a joint delegation representing the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the Arab Baath Socialist Party in Lebanon.
According to a statement issued in the wake of the meeting, talks mainly focused on the general situation in Syria, Lebanon, and the region.
The meeting's statement also confirmed "support to the Syrian position in the face of Turkish and US attacks on Syrian sovereignty in the northern region, and the right of the Syrian state to liberate all its occupied lands by all the available means possible."
As for the fresh developments on the Lebanese scene, the meeting confirmed the Lebanese people's right to press for social demands, reject and confront governmental economic and financial policies, as well as fight the rampant corruption since 1990.
The statement also relayed the meeting's affirmation of the need to form a national Lebanese government in accordance with the approved constitutional mechanisms; "a government that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese and believes in the path of the resistance and in strengthening Lebanese-Syrian relations."
