President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, expressed his great sorrow at the loss of Sultan Qaboos bin Said, "who was a brother and friend to Lebanon throughout its difficult stages and circumstances."
The President addressed a cable of condolences this morning to the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, eulogizing the late Sultan Qaboos, "who served his country and his people for half a century, and who was a brother and friend to Lebanon...and supported its just causes and its stability, security and the aspirations of its people."
"With the passing away of Sultan Qaboos, the Arab world has lost a man of dialogue, wisdom and peace who has always worked for Arab reunification and strengthening its solidarity and immunity in the face of the challenges that threaten our countries and our peoples," Aoun added.
The President expressed the Lebanese people's heartfelt sympathy with their Omani brethrens, asking the Lord Almighty to grant the Sultan and his people solace, comfort and patience to endure their huge loss, and to bless the Sultan with good health and determination in pursuing his national responsibilities in the service of the Sultanate of Oman and the prosperity of its people.
