AOUN FOLLOWS-UP ON PROCESS OF LEBANESE EXPATRIATES’ RETURN, GIVES INSTRUCTIONS TO SECURE ALL CARE NEEDED

President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, followed-up since the early morning hours today, on the arrival of the Lebanese returning from the countries of emigration to escape the outbreak of the “Corona” epidemic, who were flown in on board special MEA flights.

President Aoun reviewed the reports received in this regard. He also followed-up on the health conditions of each returning expatriate, and stressed the need to take care of all returnees and provide them with the necessary attention, in accordance with the arrangements of the mechanism set by the concerned ministries in this framework, with the aim of ensuing the success of the return process.

Furthermore, the President followed-up on the distribution of the returnees to the various quarantine places that were set for this purpose in a number of hotels, giving the necessary directions to closely monitor their conditions and provide them and their families with the social welfare needed, as per the applied mechanism.

On a different note, it is worth mentioning that the President of the Republic had invited members of the “International Support Group for Lebanon” (ISG) to a meeting to be held before noon tomorrow at Baabda Palace, in the presence of Prime Minister Hassan Diab and a number of cabinet ministers and advisers, in order to brief the members of the group on the economic, financial, social and health conditions prevailing in Lebanon, and the effects of the Corona pandemic crisis on the economic and social situation, as well as on the issue of the displaced Syrians.

The “International Support Group for Lebanon” includes the Ambassadors of the United States of America, the Russian Federation, China, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the United Nations, the European Union and the League of Arab States. A representative of the World Bank will also be present during the meeting.
