BAGHDAD, US Secretary of State William Robak said during a visit to al-Shaddadi City in the Syrian province of Hasakah that the United States was prepared to stay in the east of the Euphrates until it finally eradicate Daesh.
The US official's visit to Shaddadi came after his visit to the cities of Kubani and Manbaj under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
He is also scheduled to visit areas in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour in the coming days.
"We are ready to stay here, as President (Donald Trump) has said clearly to ensure the final elimination of the so-called Islamic state," State Department official William Robak said to reporters during his visit Shaddadi.
"We will continue to focus on the withdrawal of Iranian forces and their agents as well," he added.
Washington has repeatedly criticized Tehran and Lebanese Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian conflict and their support for the Damascus regime.
The visit comes as the Democratic Syrian Council, the political representative of the Syrian Democratic Forces, began talks with the Syrian authorities to determine the fate of the lands in which they have established a central administration.
