Al-Sudani returns to Baghdad after the conclusion of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran / Expanded

Baghdad Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani returned this evening, Wednesday, to the capital, Baghdad, concluding his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which lasted for two days, and witnessed a number of meetings and discussions.

Al-Sudani arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Tuesday morning, and was given an official reception by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.

The Prime Minister and the official delegation accompanying him held an extensive session of talks with the Iranian side, during which a number of files were discussed, foremost of which was the file of security coordination, trade exchange, cooperation in the field of energy and investment, organizing tourism and mutual religious visits, and facing the challenges of climate change.

The Prime Minister and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also held a bilateral meeting, in which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields and areas, in addition to discussing a number of files of common interest.

He also met, on the first day of the official visit to Iran, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani expressed his thanks to the Islamic Republic for its support for Iraq and its support in the war on terrorism.

He stressed the need to continue joint efforts to confront terrorism, extremism and drugs.

Among the series of meetings that Al-Sudani conducted during the official visit was his meeting with the First Vice President of Iran, Muhammad Mokhber, and his meeting with the President of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf.

The two meetings discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation, emphasizing Iraq’s pivotal role in the region to bring points of view closer, pointing to the importance of the relationship between the legislative authorities in Iraq and Iran, and strengthening cooperation in a comprehensive manner.

On the second day of the official visit to Iran, Al-Sudani met Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance economic and trade relations, within the framework of constructive cooperation and partnership between the two neighboring countries.

Al-Sudani concluded his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, by visiting the holy city of Mashhad, and performing the ceremony of visiting the shrine of Imam Ali bin Musa Al-Reza, peace be upon them both.
