Berset visits displaced Syrians camp in Tal Maayan: Swiss State is carrying out its duties

President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, landed, on the third and last day of his official visit to Lebanon, in the province of Akkar to which he arrived aboard a military helicopter, accompanied by the Ambassador of Switzerland to Lebanon, Monika Schmutz Kirgoz.

Berset headed, amid tight security measures, to the town of Tal Maayan where he visited the camp of displaced Syrians and met with the 43 Syrian families residing there.

Berset then inspected one of the tents set out as a "school" for the students among the residents of the camp. He listened to the "school's" reality and needs, the number of its students and the conditions of education there.

He then attended a seminar on environmental and health awareness organized by Red Cross teams in a number of IDP camps to raise awareness about prevention and health protection.

Berset underscored "the importance of living with dignity" and stressed that "the Swiss State is carrying out its duties in this regard."

"We will continue to provide assistance, depending on our capabilities," he said
