Chairman of Council of Imams in Latin America, Caribbean: Decision of Kingdom’s Government to Limit Number of Pilgrims this Year Accords with Sharia in Preserving Lives

Riyadh, Chairman of the Council of Imams in Latin America and the Caribbean Dr. Abdulhamid Mitwalli has praised the decision of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to limit this year’s Hajj to citizens and residents.

Dr. Mitwalli commended this precautionary step, stressing the council’s support for the decision and noting that it accords with Islamic Sharia teachings that call for preserving lives, from one side, and not to stop the ritual completely, from another side.

He also hailed the pivotal and main role implemented by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in caring for and serving pilgrims.
