Dozens of families from the eastern villages of Khanaqin in Diyala were displaced by terrorist threats

Baquba, Dozens of families in the eastern villages of Khanaqin district in Diyala province have begun to leave their homes because of threats of a terrorist organization.

"The eastern villages of the Khanaqin district, which is inhabited by Kurdish families, have seen dozens of families displaced because of the threats of Daesh cells and terrorist attacks from time to time," Hoshyar Ismail, member of the Diyala Council, told NINA.

He added that the escalation of terrorist acts comes within the framework of plans to organize a call to control the region and turn it into sanctuaries and strongholds of its dormant cells." He called for the return of the Kurdish security forces to work alongside the federal police in order to fill security gaps and achieve security stability in the region.
