KANDICE ARDIEL TO NNA: UNIFIL HAS LAUNCHED INVESTIGATION INTO HOULA EXPLOSION

In response to a question from the correspondent of the National News Agency (NNA) about the explosion that occurred Thursday morning in the southern town of Houla, which coincided with an alleged Israeli raid on Syria, UNIFIL Deputy Chief of Strategic Communications and Public Information Kandice Ardiel said that “in the early morning hours of 8 April 2021, UNIFIL peacekeepers recorded an explosion, which later media reports said was caused by a missile, near the village of Houla within its area of operations in south Lebanon.”

“UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Stefano Del Col was in immediate contact with the parties,” she noted.

“UNIFIL has launched an investigation to determine the facts, and whether there has been a violation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1701,” Ardiel added.
