Machnouk, diplomats tackle overall situation

Caretaker Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk, on Wednesday received at his ministerial office Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon, Emmanuelle Lamoureux.

The Canadian ambassador considered the acceleration of government formation in Lebanon shall be advantageous to speed up the adoption of development projects supported by her country, linked to the Cedre Conference, and their implementation.

Ambassador Lamoureux commended the positive cooperation between the Interior Ministry during Machnouk's mandate and the Canadian Embassy, especially in the Syrian refugees' issue.

On the recent Saudi-Canadian row, Machnouk expressed his surprise at the "tone used by the Canadian government in addressing the Saudi government," hoping the crisis would be soon resolved.

On the other hand, Machnouk met with outgoing Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Ben Hamad al-Marri, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.

The visit was a chance to dwell on most recent developments.

Outgoing German Ambassador to Lebanon, Martin Huth, also paid yesterday a farewell visit to Machnouk upon the end of his diplomatic mission in Lebanon.

Discussions dwelt on an array of matters of mutual concern.
