Ministry of Culture Launches Strategy of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy

Riyadh, Under the patronage of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture, the Ministry of Culture today celebrated the conclusion of the initiative of “Year of Arabic Calligraphy” 2021 and the inauguration of the strategy of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy.

The strategy was launched in a ceremony held this evening at the National Museum in Riyadh in the presence of Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Faisal, Deputy Governor of Madinah region; the Deputy Minister of Culture, Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez; the Director General of Passports Lieutenant-General Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya; a number of ministers, ambassadors, officials, cultural figures and success partners who had a prominent role in activating the initiative.

During the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Culture delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Culture in which he praised “the unlimited support that the cultural sectors enjoy by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leadership and their constant keenness to support and promote Arab culture in all its aspects, as well as their special care of Arab cultural heritage.”

He cited the accomplishments made by the initiative of Arabic Calligraphy over 2020 and 2021, which recently culminated in the success of the Kingdom’s leadership in cooperation with 15 Arab countries in registering “Arabic Calligraphy: Knowledge, Skills and Practices” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO,” stressing that the conclusion of the initiative today “does not mean stopping, as our country bears a great and lasting responsibility for its status as the source of Arab culture.”
