Riyadh, Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia keeps achieving new successes, adding new milestones to the goals of Vision 2030. Today, Saudi Arabia presents a shining model for modern sustainable development with specific projects and investments that lead the economy of the future, which will result in further progress and development.
The newspaper added that the goals of the Kingdom’s vision have achieved a major transformation towards digitization, a strong infrastructure and great incentives for investment in information and communication technologies.
Therefore, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked among the first group of the highest pioneering and innovative countries in the areas of providing government services and interacting with citizens, according to the (GovTech) report issued by the World Bank.
In another context, Al-Riyadh newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for once again confirms in word and deed its leadership in the region and the world, by adhering to a set of principles and values, which their first goal is to enhance the stability of the peoples of the world and provide their necessary needs.
For several decades, the Kingdom’s principles and values have been demonstrated on several occasions. For instance, Saudi Arabia pledged to provide oil to all nations, in the required quantities and reasonable prices, rejecting any financial gains that would affect the stability of the world. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also announced that the stability of countries is an integral part of its stability.
Even during the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Saudi Arabia continues to support all countries. It has affirmed its support for the joint international efforts through the World Trade Organization to facilitate access to Covid-19 vaccines in compliance with intellectual property rights and relevant international treaties. This support is a part of its efforts to combat the pandemic at local and international levels, the newspaper added.
In this regard, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) once again affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to international treaties and agreements related to intellectual property, particularly the Agreement on Trade Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights “TRIPS”, in addition to publishing the Implementing Rules for Compulsory Licensing of Patents, as this position reflects Riyadh’s keenness on the interests and stability of the nations, in addition to its keenness on the intellectual property rights of vaccine manufacturing countries.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia urged the country members to move forward with the existing negotiations on waiving intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines and to reach consensus as soon as possible. Saudi Arabia also urged the vaccine manufacturing country members to facilitate technology transfer to countries wishing to manufacture their vaccines, the daily added.
