Syria and Russia: Humanitarian file is a pretext to continue support of terrorism

Damascus, Syria and Russia affirmed the continuation of efforts to create the appropriate conditions for the return of the displaced to their areas, adding that the humanitarian file “that the hostile sides talk about” is nothing but a pretext for attacking Syria’s sovereignty and supporting terrorism.

In a joint Syrian-Russian press conference in Damascus today, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf presented the Syrian state’s measures to repatriate the displaced to their areas.

Makhlouf said that the Syrian state is focusing on increasing production to ease the effects of unilateral coercive measures on Syrians imposed by the United States and Western countries.

He pointed out to the direct following up and interest given by President Bashar al-Assad to the productive industrial sectors through his field visits and his direct meeting with industrialists, in addition to the issuance of the new investment law with the aim of creating an investment environment and expanding the production base in parallel with the continuation of working in the 159 modernized industrial and craft zones and their rehabilitation with restoration of commercial and craft markets in city centers.

Makhlouf referred to the continuation of cooperation and coordination between Syria and the Russian Federation for the return of the displaced, as several corridors were opened in Idleb to get Syrian citizens out of the areas of control of the terrorist groups.

He noted the continuing suffering of the Syrians in the refugee camps, especially the al-Rukban camp and al-Hawl camp which is under the control of the QSD militia.

For his part, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Ayman Sousan, affirmed during the conference that the issue of delivering aid across borders comes within the context of the hostile countries’ investment in the humanitarian issue and “aims at violating Syrian sovereignty and providing various means of support for terrorist groups

” He stressed that Syria “is committed to delivering aid to those in need.
