New York, U.S. stocks rose modestly Thursday, with the Standard & Poor’s 500 hitting a record high, as investors ignored a U.S. inflation report that showed a bigger-than-expected increase in price pressures.
The Dow Jones industrial average was little changed, rising 19.10 to 34,466.24.
The broader Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 19.63, 0.5 percent, to 4,239.18.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 108.58, 0.8 percent, to 14,020.33.
