Shura Council Speaker Receives Speaker of UAE Federal National Council

Riyadh, Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh held here today an official talks session with the Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saqr Ghubash, currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the outset of the meeting, Al Al-Sheikh praised the depth of the brotherly relations and ties binding the leaderships and peoples of the two friendly countries, stressing the importance of exchanging bilateral visits to serve the common interests and strengthen the joint parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Ghubash expressed happiness to have visited Saudi Arabia at an invitation of the Speaker of the Shura Council, stressing that the leadership and people of the UAE do share a high profile and position with the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, ways to enhance the existing strategic cooperation relations between the Shura Council and the UAE Federal National Council were reviewed.

Following the meeting, the Speaker of the Shura Council and the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council signed an agreement, establishing the Parliamentary Friendship Association between the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement aims to support the bonds of friendship, understanding and cooperation between the two countries, strengthen the foundations of joint cooperation, document the frameworks of bilateral relations and exchange opinion and advice on parliamentary diplomacy at international and regional forums. The association is also concerned with exchanging bilateral parliamentary visits and information to support parliamentary coordination.

Then, the Speaker of the Shura Council held a luncheon in honor of the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council and his accompanying delegation.

The events were attended by Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami; Assistant Speaker of the Shura Council Dr. Hanan bint Abdulrahim Al-Ahmadi; Secretary General of the Shura Council Mohammed bin Dakhil Al-Mutairi; a number of the Shura Council members; and the accompanying delegation of the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council.

Foreign Minister of Sweden Visits Saudi Center for Opinion Polls

Riyadh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden Ann Linde paid a get-acquainted visit to the Saudi Center for Opinion Polls, where she was briefed on the scientific procedures that the facility performs as regards data collection and methodology for improving and analyzing it.

In remarks on the occasion, she expressed happiness with the visit and great appreciation of the center for its impressive performance.

Upon arrival, she was received by the CEO of the Saudi Center for Opinion Polls Dr. Abdullah Al-Hogail. The Swedish minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Niclas Trouvé, and the Sweden’s Special Envoy for Yemen Ambassador Peter Semneby.

Syrian team comes first in the Arab open competition for the mental calculation

Qamishli, A Syrian team from the city of Qamishli which participated in the Arab open competition for the mental calculation held in Algeria via internet gained the first place after a strong 4-month competition with the participation of 2000 children.

Trainer of the Syrian team, Rawdah al-Maktaf, said that Syrian child Zana Othman came first in the final stage which witnessed the participation of five children from the Syrian team.

Ahmad Dirbas, Anoud al-Kirat came third in the compound level, while Sa’ad al-Khudre and Alya Faisal gained the third rank in the simple level.

Last year, a Syrian team from Qamishli gained the second place in the Arab championship that was held in Egypt.

FEARAB-Venezuela congratulates Syria on success of presidential election

Caracas, FEARAB-Venezuela Organization affirmed full solidarity with Syrian people against the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the country by the western states, stressing that these measures are one tool of aggression on the Syrian people.

FEARAB, In a final statement of its extraordinary conference which was held at the Syrian club in Maracay city in the Venezuelan state of Aragua, expressed its sincere congratulations to the Syrian people on the success of the presidential election and the winning of Dr. Bashar al-Assad for the post of president of the Republic.

The statement pointed out to the victories of the Syrian Arab Army in the war against terrorism and the aggression forces.

It reiterated that the Golan is an occupied Syrian Arab land and its people are Syrians, and the Golan must be liberated from occupation.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Ariasa, in a letter recited by Governor of the Venezuelan State, congratulated the Syrian people on the remarkable success in achieving the presidential election entitlement.

People’s Assembly to raise a lawsuit against anyone who provokes against Syrians

Damascus, Members of the People’s Assembly called for raising a lawsuit against those who provoke, participate or contribute to harming the Syrians and who prevented them from exercising their constitutional right to take part in the presidential election.

The Assembly, in a session held on Monday and chaired by Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh, held discussions on the latest presidential election, with some MPs affirming that fulfilling the election entitlement and announcing its results with the winning of Dr. Bashar al-Assad in the post of the President has sent many messages to the Arab region and the world that the political and administrative structure in Syria are active and competent.

Other MPs added that despite the war and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, but the Syrian people have proven that they are the most qualified ones to apply democracy.
