Minister of Education Meets with his Italian Counterpart

Riyadh, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al Al-Sheikh met today with Italian Minister of Public Education Patrizio Bianchi, on the sidelines of the meeting of G20 Education Ministers in Catania, Italy.

During the meeting, they discussed areas of joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Italy in the educational aspects, scientific and research partnerships between the universities in the two countries, as well as the agenda for the meeting of G20 Education Ministers.

Bianchi praised the great and distinguished efforts being exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the G20 Summit 2020.

He added that the Kingdom’ success achieved in distance education during the coronavirus pandemic a leading global model, and his country will take advantage of this model in linking the Italian regions to a single education platform, such as the “Madrasati”.

Syria participates in International Informatics Olympiad (IOI) 2021 in Singapore

Damascus, With participation of students from Syrian Science Olympiad, First round of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI)2021 in Singapore which is organized virtually from 22nd to 25th of June with participation of 88 countries.

Distinctive and Creativity Authority said in a statement to SANA that the Syrian students participating in the competition are Muhammad Nour al-Masry and Bishr Islambouli from Aleppo, Ali Mansour from Lattakia, and Antoine Dabbous from Homs.

The contest includes two rounds of five continuous hours each to deal with problem-solving of algorithmic nature and computer programming.

This is the 13th Syrian participation in this largest scientific contest in the world in informatics field.

Islamic University President Receives Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Madinah, Prince Dr. Mamduh bin Saud bin Thunayyan, President of the Islamic University received here today Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Muhamed Jusic.

The President of the Islamic University presented an overview of the university, its various scientific and research tracks, its global mission to serve the Islamic religion and society, as well as the role that the university offers to the international students.

Later, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina toured the Central Library, the Sports City, and the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education.

Omani Minister of Housing Visits Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of Sultanate Oman, Dr. Khalfan Alshueili, currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was briefed on Saudi housing as well as city development experiment, as he and his accompanying delegation toured a number of government bodies, here today.

During the tour, the visiting minister was accompanied by a number of officials from the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing.

Syria, Iraq discuss means to develop bilateral cooperation in legal, judicial fields

Baghdad, Iraqi Minister of Justice, Judge Salar Abdul Sattar Mohammad, discussed with Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah, prospects of cooperation and joint coordination between the two brotherly countries in the legal and judicial fields.

A statement of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice said: “The two sides discussed setting a date for signing an agreement of understanding in the legal and judicial fields between the Iraqi and Syrian Ministries of Justice to develop and uplift the capabilities of the Iraqi Ministry’s employees.”

During the meeting, the Iraqi minister stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Syria and the need to strengthen them for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

For his part, Ambassador al-Dandah affirmed, in a statement to SANA correspondent in Iraq, Syria’s support for Iraq in all fields, including the legal and judicial fields, to serve both sides.

Al-Dandah said: “An invitation was sent to the Iraqi minister to visit Syria to discuss the agreement for the development of judicial cooperation in the criminal, civil and personal fields, and the extradition of criminals and those sentenced to court. The minister promised to respond to the invitation as soon as possible.”

OIC Condemns Houthi Attack with Bomb-Laden Drone, Targeting Civilians in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia

Jeddah, The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, expressed, in a statement today, his strong condemnation and denunciation of the Houthi terrorist militia attack, targeting innocent civilians with a bomb-laden drone, which the Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed it.

Al-Othaimeen, stressed that the OIC condemns the terrorist practices committed by the Houthi militia and those who support it to target innocent civilians and civilian objects, reiterating the OIC’s support for all measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain its security, stability, and the safety of citizens and residents on its territories.

Reflexes of al-Quds Intifada … a seminar at headquarters of Syrian Arab Popular Committee for Supporting Palestinian People in Damascus

Damascus, The political seminar on “Reflexes of al-Quds Intifada on Zionist Entity” which was organized by the Syrian Arab Popular Committee for Supporting the Palestinian People and Resisting the Zionist Project has focused on the necessity to continue the resistance and popular intifada in facing the Zionist enemy as they constitute the only way to liberate the land and defeat the occupation.

During the seminar, which was held in cooperation with Al-Quds International Institution (QII) / Syria and the alliance of Palestinian forces, Researcher Samir Abou Saleh reviewed the outcomes that the popular uprising in al-Quds and in Palestine in general had achieved, mainly the major shift in American, European and world public opinion in general in the interest of the rights of the Palestinians.

Abu Saleh affirmed the importance of unifying the resistance and the resolution to confront the Zionist colonial project in occupied Palestine.

The participants stressed the importance of holding seminars and conferences that address the resistance, its culture and victories , asserting that the popular uprising in the occupied al-Quds expressed the stance of the Palestinian people towards resisting the occupation and commitment to their legitimate rights and rejection of all forms of normalization with it.

Borisov: Work underway to prepare long-term agreement, expand cooperation with Syria

Damascus, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Yury Borisov, affirmed his country’s continuous work to boost cooperation with Syria and support its people in addition to preparing a long-term strategic agreement to expand economic and trade cooperation between Russia and Syria.

“I conveyed to President Bashar al-Assad the congratulations and appreciation of President Vladimir Putin after the major victory of the Presidential election in Syria which expresses the people’s confidence in their elected president,” Borisov said in press statements along with Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam prior to his departure at Damascus International Airport.

He described his meeting with President al-Assad as constructive and fruitful that will lead to more cooperation.

As for the long-term strategic agreement, Borisov said that preparations are underway to expand cooperation between the two countries, adding that this cooperation will cover domains of economy, trade, industry and energy.

“Russia does its best to help the Syrian people, particularly during the difficult circumstances in light of the blockade and the western sanctions,” Borisov said.

Minister Azzam, for his part, affirmed that the joint projects between the two countries are strategic that keep the interests of the two peoples.

Saudi Arabia to Host ALECSO Executive Council Virtual Meeting on July

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to host the virtual meeting of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).

As many as 21 member states will take part, in the virtual gathering, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The meeting is set to take place on July 8, in order to discuss a number of issues that would best serve realizing the organization’s objectives.

This is the second time that the Kingdom will host a meeting for ALECSO, 40 years after it hosted it for the first time in the city of Taif in 1979.

Foreign Ministry: Attempts of fabricating chemical scenario in Idleb won’t affect Syria’s stance in combating terrorism

Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed that attempts of terrorist groups to fabricate a paly using chemical weapons in Idleb province to accuse the Syrian Arab Army of the act, are guided and supported by the US, some Western countries and Turkish intelligence services.

An official source at the Ministry said in statement on Tuesday that the terrorist organizations and terrorists of White Helmets group and their supporters on the field ground and at the international forums have not stopped preparing for terrorist acts through preparations to stage chemical weapon play in some areas of Idleb and Hama provinces with the aim of accusing the Syrian Arab Army of the act.

The source clarified that the acts of terrorist organizations, with their different names, are done upon orders and support of the United States of America, some Western countries and the Turkish intelligence services.

It indicated that Syria will hold the countries that support those terrorists, especially the United States, Britain, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey, responsible for using those toxic materials and killing innocent civilians without any moral deterrent.

“Syria also calls on the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to not ignore that information and the need to take it very seriously and deal with it within the framework of its mandate specified in light of the Chemical Weapons’ Convention,” the source said.

It concluded by saying that the Syrian Arab Republic has repeatedly stressed its categorical rejection of the use of chemical weapons by anyone, in anywhere and under any circumstance, and that it has not used these weapons before and cannot use them now as it basically does not possess them.

Syrian- Russian talks on expanding economic cooperation

Damascus, Session of official talks between Syria and Russia was held on Tuesday at the Cabinet building.

The talks were headed by Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam of the Syrian side, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov of the Russia side.

Expanding areas of joint cooperation and following up on the implementation signed agreements were discussed during the session, and laying the appropriate groundwork in preparation for the 13th session of the Syrian-Russian Joint Committee for Trade, Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation, as well as overcoming the difficulties encountered in joint action and finding solutions to them.

The talks also included economic, trade, industrial, agriculture, investment, customs, energy, maritime transport, railways, communications, digital technologies, medical products and medicines cooperation, in addition to facilitating the arrival of Russian goods to the Syrian market and providing the appropriate environment to establish development and economic projects which contribute to supporting the Syrian economy.

Borisov affirmed that his country will continue supporting Syria in all fields, particularly reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in energy and electricity fields, and raising their production capacities.

For his part, Minister Azzam underlined that the Syrian government works to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Russia and exert maximum efforts to implement bilateral agreements and joint vital projects, in addition to expanding economic cooperation, increasing trade exchange and encouraging mutual investment.
