KSrelief Delivers Medical Aid to Mali to Help Combat COVID-19 Pandemic

Bamako, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) delivered yesterday medical aid and supplies to the Republic of Mali to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of KSrelief, the medical aid was handed over by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Mali Khalid bin Mabrouk Al-Khaled to Mali’s Minister of Health and Social Development Diéminatou Sangaré.

The minister extended thanks to the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for providing this medical aid.

The minister stressed that this aid is a strong evidence of the strength of relations between the two countries.

The medical aid comes within the framework of the assistance being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to support international efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

International Trade Relations Director at Confederation of Portuguese Business Praises Investment Climate in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Director of International Trade Relations at the Confederation of Portuguese Business Pedro Magalhães noted the mega projects that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing and its qualitative initiatives that are in harmony with the Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to having economic estates with developed infrastructure.

In a press statement after concluding a visit with a Portuguese commercial delegation of several companies to the headquarters of the Federation of Saudi Chambers and meeting with Saudi businesspeople, Magalhães stressed that the investment climate in both countries is attractive and characterized by diversity, especially in agricultural technology, innovation, industrial sector, services and constructions.

He highlighted the importance of exchanging commercial visits during the next period, calling on the Federation to form a Saudi commercial delegation to visit Portugal and meet their Portuguese counterparts, participate in the Web Summit, and check closely on the investment opportunities in various economic sectors in Portugal.

He also referred to the economic fundamentals, incentives and investment features that Portugal offers to foreign investors in terms of tax incentives, low costs of commercial businesses and the gold visa that allow access to all Schengen countries, ease of establishing a company within only 45 minutes, in addition to providing public services on the internet, while the workforce enjoys skills, knowledge and low costs.

The coming phase is envisioned to witness the launch of the biggest cooperation between the two countries in fields like agricultural technology in light of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s plans to enhance its food security, in addition to the industrial sector in a way that supports Saudi industries and achieves economic diversity, as well as technology, especially that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is planning to move to knowledge society through the Saudi Vision 2030 via establishing artificial intelligence research centers that allow transferring knowledge and technology.

SPA President Meets with Sudanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, The Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran, met here today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Adel Bashir Hassan.

During the meeting, they discussed the aspects of cooperation in the field of media and ways to enhance it.

15 Saudi Universities Rank among Best at World, Arab Levels according to 2022 Times Rankings

Riyadh, Fifteen Saudi universities have realized a national achievement through their advancement according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, developing by more than 50% compared with the 2021 ranking when 10 universities progressed on the list.

The ranking results showed the progress of 11 Saudi universities compared to their ranking last year, where King Abdulaziz University ranked 190th, while King Saud University and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals ranked 351st. The rankings, for the first time, saw the entry of University of Hail among the best 400 universities and University of Tabuk among the best 500 universities.

Ranking indicators showed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with its modern system of research and innovation, is considered the first at the global level in terms of improvement of citation of research outcomes with 35%, which reflected positively on the ranking of Saudi universities and contributed to a big improvement in their rankings. The increase in research publications of Saudi universities and development of their quality and influence over the past few years are considered among the most important factors that led to realizing these achievements.

The Times Rankings is among top international rankings that Saudi universities achieved development on for this year, where six Saudi universities appeared on the Shanghai Ranking, including the King Abdulaziz University and King Saud University that were among the best 150 universities in the world.

At the beginning of the second quarter of the year, the SCImago Institutions Rankings announced its ranking for international universities and listed most of Saudi universities, including three universities that were among the top 200, which are King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, King Abdulaziz University and King Saud University.

The QS World University Rankings, which was announced on March 23, 2021, listed 14 Saudi universities, including two among the top 200 universities, which are King Abdulaziz University and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

These outcomes are a result of unlimited support provided by the wise leadership and big efforts of the Education Ministry to enhance and empower the university education structure, the efficiency of programs and projects that have been implemented, as well as the close attention through harmonizing them with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030.

OIC Condemns Terrorist Houthi’s Attempt to Target Civilians in Saudi City of Khamis Mushait

Jeddah, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen expressed his strong condemnation and denunciation of the attempt carried out by Houthi terrorist militia to target innocent civilians in the city of Khamis Mushait with a booby-trapped drone, as the Saudi air defenses were able to intercept and destroy it before hitting its target.

In a statement today, the OIC SG stressed that the Organization also condemns those who stand behind Houthi militia and provide it with money and weapons.

“The OIC supports all measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain its security and stability and the safety of citizens and residents on its territories.” Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated.

Transport, Border Crossings, Ports Committee at Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council Holds Meeting in Riyadh

Riyadh, The Transport, Border Crossings, Ports Committee at the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council here today held a meeting under the presidency of Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and Iraqi Minister of Transport Nasser Al-Shibli.

The meeting was attended by several leaders of the transport and logistics services sector from both countries, where both sides agreed on increasing the commercial exchange through Jadidah-Arar border crossing through facilitating procedures and speeding up commercial exchange movement at the crossing in a way that the handling process does not take more than four hours for each container, in addition to referring periodic reports for measurement and improvement.

The two sides also agreed to rehabilitate the Jadidah-Arar border crossing from its both ends through implementing an expansion project for the road connecting the crossing with the Saudi borders.

At the level of maritime transport and ports, discussions included the cooperation agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the Republic of Iraq in the maritime transport field, where both sides agreed to sign the agreement once all internal procedures are completed. The two sides also approved members of the technical committee for the maritime transport in both countries, providing that the committee holds its first meeting during the fourth quarter of 2021 to discuss mechanisms to execute the cooperation agreement in the maritime transport field and discuss most important issues pertaining to enhancing the role of ports and activating the maritime route between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and Umm Qasr Port in Iraq.

As for the air transport, both sides agreed to activate the air transport agreement and discussed means to continue technical cooperation between the two countries, mainly in the fields of air transport, air safety and aviation and airport security.

Saudi Arabia, Iraqi Sign Maritime Transport Agreement

Riyadh, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Transport General Authority Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser and Iraqi Minister of Transport Nasser Al-Shibli signed a cooperation agreement in the maritime transport field on behalf of their respective governments.

The agreement is part of a series of actions that the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council implements to enhance relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq at the strategic level and to open new aspects for cooperation in various fields.

The agreement aims at supporting the maritime transport field, which is considered one of the pillars of the economic development in the world, which requires developing the commercial maritime navigation, increasing the movement of commercial ships to transport passengers and goods, encouraging commercial exchange, facilitating the access requirements and procedures to the ports of both countries with their ships, and enhancing the exchange of expertise and technologies between marine companies, institutions and institutes in this field.

The agreement also included treatment methods for ships of both countries regarding access to their ports, their stay and departure, and in cases of emergency and marine accidents in the territorial water, where the deal also aims at offering facilitations for maritime transport companies, ships and personnel, in addition to mutual recognition of documents of ships and sailors for both countries, and coordinating positions of both countries in international maritime conferences.

Saudi health authorities practice of switching between COVID-19 vaccines is safe and effective, leading to greater immune response, says MoH

Riyadh, Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed that switching between coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines, approved by health authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is safe and effective, leading to a greater immune response and contributes to protecting against complications of the virus.

In press remarks, the ministry pointed out that the mechanism of switching between vaccines is developed with different techniques that are not new in the science of vaccine development, recalling that they have been used since 1990.

Regarding the latest COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the past 24 hours, MoH announced the registration of 177 confirmed cases and 279 recoveries, adding that the number of active cases reached 2821, including 824 critical cases.

According to official statistics the total number of infections in the Kingdom reached 544,811, while the recovery tally increased to 533,430, said the report.

The ministry also reported eight new deaths, bringing to 8560 the total number of deaths in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia is announced to host 20the Asian Men’s Handball Championship, replacing Iran

Riyadh, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is to play host of the 20th Asian Men’s Handball Championship “Qualifiers for the Men’s World Championship in Poland and Sweden 2023”, announced the Executive Committee of the Asian Handball Confederation in a meeting yesterday during which it decided to withdraw the tournament from Iran and grant hosting the event to Saudi Arabia.

The tournament is scheduled to be held during the period from January 18-31, 2022, with the participation of Asian teams, where the top five teams will qualify to the World Cup in Poland-Sweden 2023.

In remarks on the decision, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Handball Federation Fadel Al-Nimr praised the wise leadership’s permanent support for the sports sector, appreciating the Minister of Sports, President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, and Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, for their follow-up and support for the hosting bid, culminated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s success in hosting world’s largest tournaments and events.

Saudi Arabia to host Saudi Green Initiative Forum and Middle East Green Initiative Summit in October

Riyadh, Driving forward the Kingdom’s leading role in preserving the planet and supporting the efforts of the international community in combatting environmental challenges, the Kingdom will host the inaugural Saudi Green Initiative and Middle East Green Initiative events in Riyadh on 23-25 October 2021.
