Sinopec Signs Long-term Contract with Venture Global LNG

BEIJING, Nov. 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (HKG: 0386, “Sinopec”) has signed a 20-year liquified natural gas (LNG) contract with U.S. LNG producer and exporter Venture Global LNG on November 4, 2021, to purchase 4 million tons of LNG a year.

Venture Global will supply the LNG from its plant in Plaquemines, Louisiana. In addition, China International United Petroleum & Chemicals (“UNIPEC”), a subsidiary of Sinopec, will purchase LNG resources totaling 3.8 million tons from Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass project.

Ma Yongsheng, president of Sinopec, noted that Sinopec has always insisted on a low-carbon, green, safe and responsible development strategy.

Vaccitech Announces Publication of Second Phase 1 Clinical Trial Results of ChAdOx1 Vaccine in Development for the MERS Coronavirus

The Phase 1 clinical trial was conducted by The King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre (KAIMRC), in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), in partnership with the University of Oxford. Vaccitech retains commercial rights to this vaccine.

The ChAdOx1 MERS vaccine candidate was generally well tolerated and induced both humoral and cellular immune responses, which continued through the six-month follow-up period.

OXFORD, United Kingdom, Nov. 04, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vaccitech plc (NASDAQ: VACC), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company engaged in the discovery and development of novel immunotherapeutics and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases and cancer, today announced the publication in The Lancet Microbe of the first Phase 1 clinical trial conducted in the Middle East evaluating the safety and tolerability of the ChAdOx1 MERS (Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome) vaccine candidate. The study builds on the first Phase 1 clinical trial of ChAdOx1 MERS conducted in the United Kingdom and published in Lancet ID last year.

The Phase 1 trial is part of a collaboration between the University of Oxford’s Jenner Institute and the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC). It is the first vaccine clinical trial to be conducted within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Vaccitech retains commercial rights to the vaccine.

“The high fatality rate of diagnosed MERS-CoV makes it one of the most dangerous coronaviruses communicable between humans,” says Naif Alharbi, KAIMRC, DPhil, vaccinologist and co-principal investigator on the MERS vaccine trial. “Research into robust preventative measures for a virus with pandemic potential is a global health imperative. The completion of our trial is the latest achievement for KAIMRC’s world-leading MERS research and supports advancing the ChAdOx1 MERS vaccine candidate into its next phase of development. This multi-partner experience has also set the stage for more MERS vaccine clinical development in KSA, improving both research and regulatory expertise.”

Twenty-four healthy adult volunteers aged 18 to 50 years received one of three single doses of ChAdOx1 MERS (at dose levels of 5 x 10⁹ viral particles (VP), 2.5 x 10¹⁰ VP and 5 x 10¹⁰ VP). The primary objective was to assess safety and tolerability. Secondary objectives included evaluation of cellular and humoral immunogenicity from baseline through six months. The trial showed that ChAdOx1 MERS was generally well tolerated with most adverse events either mild or moderate. The most common adverse event was headache (58% of volunteers) followed by muscle pain (54%). The vaccine candidate induced robust antibody and T cell immune responses in all volunteers. Antibodies peaked at day 28 and T cell responses peaked at day 14, both of which were maintained until the end of follow-up at six months. The results of the study support advancing the vaccine candidate into Phase 2 development.

There have been more than 2,500 cases of MERS reported globally to the World Health Organization (WHO), including 886 deaths. The MERS case fatality rate is 34%, an order of magnitude greater than the rate reported for the COVID-19 coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. The WHO lists MERS-CoV as a priority pathogen for vaccine development due to its threat to global health security.

Both are part of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (Saudi NGHA). Casio to Release MT-G Watch with Multilayer, Multicolor Carbon Bezel

The new MTG-B2000XMG, which boasts a multicolor carbon bezel made by laminating carbon with colored glass fiber, is part of the MT-G line of watches, all of which feature a construction that makes the most of the properties of both metal and resin.

The bezel for the MTG-B2000XMG is manufactured using a new process for randomly laminating carbon and colored glass fibers, from which the bezel is hewn. يُذكر أن المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة هو تحالف دولي متعدد الأطراف تأسس لقيادة وتسريع وتنظيم تحول قطاع السياحة إلى صافي الانبعاثات الصفري، إلى جانب قيادة الجهود الدولية لحماية الطبيعة ودعم المجتمعات.

كما يمتاز قطاع السياحة بحيويته، حيث تعتمد بعض البلدان النامية والدول الجزرية الصغيرة اعتماداً كلياً على السياحة في اقتصاداتها. كما أن أكثر من 40 مليون من المشاريع السياحية هي مشاريع صغيرة أو متوسطة الحجم، والذي يعادل 80% من قطاع السياحة ككل. ويهدف المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة إلى دعم كوكب الأرض والبشرية من خلال تحسين وتفعيل دور السياحة في التغيير المناخي، سعياً نحو حماية البيئة والحفاظ عليها.

وفي جلسة خاصة حول مستقبلالمركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة في مؤتمر COP26، اجتمع معالي وزير السياحة السعودي الأستاذ أحمد الخطيب مع الرئيس السابق للمكسيك ورئيس مشروع الاقتصاد المناخي الجديد ومعهد الموارد العالمية السيد فيليبي كالديرون والمستشار الأول للمبعوث الرئاسي الأمريكي الخاص للمناخ وعدد من القادة.

جدير بالذكر أنه تتم صياغة استراتيجية المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة من قبل ائتلاف من الحكومات والمنظمات الدولية والأوساط الأكاديمية والمؤسسات والاتحادات التمويلية متعددة الأطراف.

وقد وُجهت الدعوات للمشاركة في المرحلة الأولى من هذا التحالف المهم إلى كل من المملكة المتحدة، والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وفرنسا، واليابان، وألمانيا، وكينيا، وجامايكا، والمغرب، وإسبانيا، والمملكة العربية السعودية. وحيث تعطي هذه البلدان الأولوية لقضايا المناخ والسياحة والشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، فإن ذلك من شأنه أن يحقق التناغم المنشود لدعم استراتيجية المركز الساعية إلى تسريع التحول المنشود.

وتتمحور خدمات المركز حول ثلاثة محاور رئيسية تتضمن التبادل المعرفي، والقياس والمراقبة، والتمكين حيث سيركز المركز على تسع مجالات على الأقل في دعمه للقطاع متمثلة في مراكز الأبحاث، التطوير المعرفي، المنصات، تطوير المعايير والتراخيص، تسهيل التبادل الثنائي، وبناء القدرات، واحصاءات أو استقطاب الطلب، والاستثمار.

“مر قطاع السياحة بالكثير من التحديات خلال الجائحة، وهو الآن بحاجة إلى حل عالمي، لا سيما عند الأخذ بعين الاعتبار التحديات الملحة التي يفرضها تغير المناخ. قد لا تعرف الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة في قطاعنا، مثل وكالات السفر أو منظمي الرحلات، حجم بصمتها الكربونية وكيفية المساهمة للوصول لصافي الانبعاثات الصفري. ولذلك يجب علينا أن نخلق فرصاً للعمل ونحد من الفقر ونقدم الفائدة لكوكبنا كلما ذهبنا في عطلة. المركز العالمي للتنمية المستدامة، والذي يمثل تحالفاً متعدد البلدان والأطراف، يهدف إلى جمع أصحاب المصلحة والجهات المعنية في قطاع السياحة وضمان العمل الجماعي المشترك من أجل مستقبل أكثر استدامة قادر على الصمود.”

وقال الدكتور رامون سانشيز، محقق رئيسي وباحث مشارك، قسم الصحة البيئية، جامعة هارفارد:

” تحتاج كافة المجتمعات، والشركات، والجهات الحكومية، وأصحاب المصلحة للحصول على الأدوات اللازمة وأطر العمل، واتباع أفضل الممارسات للمساهمة في بناء قطاع سياحي عالمي مستدام. ونحن في جامعة هارفارد متحمسون لبدء التعاون مع المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة في بحث من شأنه المساهمة بشكل رئيسي في بناء الأسس والمضي بالقطاع نحو صافي انبعاثات الصفري.”

وقال جيريمي أوبنهايم، مؤسس شركة “سيستمك” ، وهي شركة استشارية واستثمارية عالمية متخصصة في التحولات القطاعية المتوافقة مع اتفاقية باريس وتدعم المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة:

“يجمع المركز العالمي للسياحة المستدامة العديد من القطاعات المتعلقة بالسياحة، منها الطيران والضيافة والنقل وخدمات تقديم الطعام، في تحالف عالمي المستوى متعدد الأطراف يساعد في تحويل الصناعة وخاصة الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، من قطاع يولد 8٪ من انبعاثات غازات الدفيئة إلى أحد المحركات لعالم متجدد خالٍ من الانبعاثات الضارة للبيئة”.

وقال نيكلاس سفينينغسن، مدير العمل العالمي للمناخ لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة الإطارية بشأن تغير المناخ:

“تعتبر السياحة أحد أكثر القطاعات المهددة بسبب التغير المناخي، وهي أيضاً أحد القطاعات التي ستساهم كثيراً في احراز التقدم في أجندة التنمية المستدامة لعام 2030. إن العمل على مواجهة التغير المناخي يوفر فرصة للجميع لتعافي الاقتصادات والمجتمعات والدول بطريقة مستدامة وصديقة للبيئة.”
