Jazan Mango… One Million Trees, 65,000 Tons Annually Keep Pace with Saudi Vision 2030, Achieve Global Competition

Jazan– Jazan Region has made vast steps in developing the agriculture of mango and expanding its production through increasing farmers and preparing farms and trees, achieving one of the targets of the Saudi Vision 2030 through the sustainable agricultural rural development program that was launched by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture with the aim of improving the agricultural rural sector and contributing to raising the living conditions of rural families and increasing the production efficiency, improving the lifestyle, and realizing food security, including supporting the planting of mango.

The production of Jazan jumped from 18,000 tons of mango annually in May 2005 with the launch of the first edition of the annual mango festival, when the region included 250,000 trees only at the time that produced 30 types, to reaching 19,109 farms of mango in 2022 that includes 1,000,000 mango trees with an annual production of 65,000 tons.

The Agricultural Research Center in Jazan contributed to developing mango farming, where center fields currently incubates the mothers and oldest of mango trees in the region, where planting mangos started in 1973 as an experiment, before the modern experiment starts in 1983 through introducing new global kinds from the US, Kenya, Egypt and India, which reached 60 kinds that achieved wide successes.

The mango production season starts in mid-March to reach its peak in May, where mango production is characterized by high quality and competitiveness in various global markets, and high ability of shipping and exportation.

Mango farming is spread across several governorates in Jazan Region, where Siba Governorate hosts one of the biggest mango farms with more than 30,000 trees whose production exceed 600 tons annually.

Ma’aden CEO Outlines Growth Strategy at Mining Indaba 2022 in South Africa

Cape Town– The Saudi Arabian Mining Company “MA’ADEN” showcased its ambitious growth strategy during the “Mining Indaba 2022” conference held in South Africa.

CEO of MA’ADEN Robert Wilt gave a keynote presentation at the conference, outlining the company’s strategic growth plans, highlighting the wide-ranging opportunities for partnerships and the vast potential of the Saudi mining ecosystem.

Wilt highlighted the significant progress MA’ADEN has made in achieving its ambitious growth targets, strengthening its position as a Saudi mining champion with a global presence, while contributing to Saudi Vision 2030.

Wilt said: “Our focus is to increase our production capacity across the value chain, while continuing to invest in exploration. Saudi Arabia’s untapped mineral resources are estimated to be $1.3 trillion. Our goal over the next few years will be to transform that raw material into value for the Kingdom and become one of the world’s mining leaders”.

“We will be looking for partners to help us deliver on our exploration, technology & innovation and sustainability goals. We look forward to working more closely with the wider mining ecosystem and forming mutually beneficial strategic partnerships.” Wilt said.

MA’ADEN is also working to lead by example on several ESG goals aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative and will look to create value-added partnerships in this domain.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Sends Written Message to Emir of Kuwait

Jeddah– Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has sent a written message to the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, concerning the strong fraternal relations and ways to support and enhance them.

The message was delivered by Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid, Saudi Ambassador to Kuwait, when he was received by the Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

This aid comes as part of the relief and humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to the affected countries and peoples around the world.

11th Meeting of GAFTA Committee on Inter-Trade Commences at AL

Cairo- The 11th meeting of the committee to facilitate inter-trade under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area Agreement (GAFTA) started today at the headquarters of the Arab League Secretariat General, under the chairmanship of the Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry Mohammed Al-Shahat.

The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was headed by Advisor to the Governor of Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority Abdulaziz Al-Romi.

Director of Economic Integration at the Arab League Dr. Bahgat Abu Al-Nasr said, in a statement following the meeting, that upon a decision by the Economic and Social Council, an appendix to facilitate trade was made so that GAFTA matches with other areas in the world, including WTO contents.

The 11th meeting is set to discuss, over three days, the memorandum of the Arab League Secretariat General regarding a revision of the initial draft of the appendix to facilitate trade within GAFTA.

Saudi Delegation, Headed by Vice Minister of Commerce, Arrives in the Netherlands to Enhance Commercial, Economic Partnership

Riyadh– A Saudi delegation, headed by Vice Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Competitiveness Center Dr. Iman Al-Mutairi, has arrived in the Netherlands to hold cooperation talks as part of efforts to enhance commercial and economic partnership in priority fields for the two countries.

The Saudi delegation, whose visit continues till Thursday, includes leaders from the ministries of energy, investment, and environment, water and agriculture, Saudi Ports Authority, General Authority for Foreign Trade, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the National Competitiveness Center, Jeddah Islamic Port, and Federation of Saudi Chambers, in addition to representatives of top national companies, such as: Saudi Aramco, SABIC, Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC).

The delegates are scheduled to hold several official meetings and working sessions with government institutions and the business sector in the Netherlands, where Dutch Vice Minister for Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Hanneke Schuiling yesterday received the Saudi delegation in the Hague in the presence of Saudi Ambassador Ziad Al-Atiyah, where the meeting went over means to enhance economic partnership between the two countries in light of the Saudi Vision 2030.

The first day of the visit included a visit to the ICAI, University of Amsterdam, and the village of business incubator, where the delegates had a firsthand look at the latest developments and practices in force, due to the wide experience of the Netherlands in the field of innovative sciences, developing know-how and technology in the fields of renewable energy, food, transport, logistic services, healthcare, smart cities and innovation.

Later on, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized working sessions that saw the participation of leaders of major companies like Shell, Unilever and Philips, and VNO-NCW, which is considered the biggest union for businesspeople and industry in the Netherlands and represents more than 185,000 facilities, and TNO that is classified as one of the biggest research institutions concerned with circular economy and sustainable infrastructure in the world.

Stakeholders in the Saudi side reviewed promising opportunities, cooperation aspects and partnership, mainly in the renewable energy field in light of what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoys of competitive features thanks to its geographical location and climate, which made benefiting from renewable energy resources a profitable source economically and a supporter for efforts to diversify energy resources.

Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Participates in INDABA

Riyadh– Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Eng. Khalid Al-Mudaifer delivered a speech in the Investing in Africa Mining (INDABA), which is held in Cape Town between May 9 and 12, 2022, during which he reviewed qualitative opportunities that await investors and mining companies in the Kingdom that, he stressed, enjoys a vital fast-developing investment climate.

The vice minister noted that, under the Saudi Vision 2030, several perceptions and programs were prepared to develop the mining sector to become the third pillar of the Saudi industry, in addition to endorsing the comprehensive strategy for mining and mineral industries.

He added that the successes witnessed by the sector rely on a diversified set of advantages that were specially prepared for potential investors, such as the local demand increase on mineral resource, the geographical location of the Kingdom near global economic markets, and its location that is in the center of the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.

Eng. Al-Mudaifer noted that the value of untapped minerals in the Arab Shield area alone is estimated at USD 1.3 trillion, noting that the Kingdom is rich in various kinds of minerals, including those used in manufacturing essential technologies to build a sustainable future, noting that the national geological database that was launched recently provides access through the internet to almost 80 years of geological, geophysical and geochemical data, including thousands of detailed reports on the goals and aspects of mining.

The vice minister also shed light on some examples of the success of steps that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made to develop the mining sector, which achieved record revenues in 2021 that reached SAR 727 million (USD 194 million), and the success in attracting investments worth more than SAR 30 billion (USD 8 billion), in addition to stimulating additional investments with a value of SAR 120 billion (USD 32 billion) in several projects who are pending the completion of studies, noting that the ministry has received 930 exploration applications, including 145 applications from 100% foreign companies.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Lower at 13,379 Points

Riyadh– Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower here today, losing 130.23 points to close at 13,379.08 points.

The total value of the trading reported was SAR 8.6 billion, while the toll of shares traded was over 164 million, divided into over 359,000 deals.

The Saudi Parallel Equity Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 420.39 points, to close at 22,674.12 points, with a valuation of SAR 34 million and an overall tally of more than 368,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 2,004 deals.

The announcement was made during the Saudi Night event organized by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and sponsored by MA’ADEN, a side of the African Mining Conference “Indaba 2022” taking place from 9 to 12 May 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa.

H.E. Bandar Alkhorayef, the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, H.E. Khalid Al-Mudaifer, Vice-Minister of Mining Affairs, Honorable ministers & excellencies representing various African countries, in addition to senior members of the mining sector, witnessed the announcement by MA’ADEN’s CEO for the new office to better serve the growing African market.

In 2019, MA’ADEN strengthened its presence in the African market with the acquisition of Mauritius-based fertilizer distributor, Meridian Group, one of the largest fertilizer distributors in Africa.

Future Aviation Forum Witnesses Signing of A Number of Agreements Worth USD2.7 Billion

Riyadh– Future Aviation Forum, which was held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and hosted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation from 9 to 11 May, 2022 in Riyadh, witnessed the signing of more than 50 agreements worth USD2.7 billion (SAR 10 billion).

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser presented the “Riyadh Aviation Declaration”, describing the adoption of this declaration as a pivotal point in the history of the global aviation sector.

Al-Jasser indicated that the second forum will be held in 2024, expressing his happiness to host the Future Aviation Forum once every two years.

KSrelief Inaugurates Project to Deliver Medical Assistance to Health Ministry in Hadramout Al-Wadi and Al-Sahra

Seiyun– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) at the medical supply warehouse in the office of the Ministry of Public Health and Population in Seiyun yesterday inaugurated a project to deliver medical beds with extra mattresses to the Ministry of Health in Hadramout Al-Wadi and Al-Sahra.

Hadramout Governorte Undersecretary for the Affairs of Al-Wadi and Al-Sahra Districts Issam Al-Kathiri expressed appreciation and gratitude for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, KSrelief and the Saudi government and people for these humanitarian acts that are an extension of what the center offers to alleviate the suffering of Hadramout Al-Wadi residents in various fields, mainly the support provided for the medical sector in light of the difficult conditions Yemen is facing.

For his part, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Hadramout Al-Wadi and Al-Sahra Dr. Hani Al-Amoudi noted that the grant by KSrelief includes 60 medical beds with medical mattresses as part of a project to provide the Yemeni Ministry of Health with field beds by the center, noting that a plan was prepared to distribute the aid to hospitals in Seiyun, Tarim and Al-Qoton.

This is part of a series of humanitarian and relief projects offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, to develop the medical service offered at Yemeni hospitals and health centers and enhance their capacity in a way that benefits patients and injured people in various governorates.
