SG of Islamic Jurisprudence Complex Meets with President of Religious Freedom Institute in Washington

Jeddah– The Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh (Jurisprudence) Complex Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sanu has, within his official visit to the US at an invitation of the State Department, met with the President of the Washington-based Religious Freedom Institute Dr. Thomas Farr, it was reported here today.

During the meeting, which took place last Wednesday, Dr. Farr expressed readiness to strike a strategic partnership between the two institutions on fields of joint interest, particularly the field of enhancing awareness of religious freedom and its role to achieve peace and stability all over the world in addition to coordinating efforts to spread the culture of positive dialogue, acceptance of other party and co-existence among followers of religions.

For his part, Sanu lauded the distinguished efforts being exerted by the institute in the field of consolidating the concept of religious freedom inside and outside the United States.

He gave an account on the vision of the complex and its message, values and stragegic five-year plan, recalling that the two organizations share some objectives, citing the rejection of sectarian extremism and terrorism.

Saudi students win 13 international awards at International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovations and Technology (ITEX 2022) in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur– Saudi students participating in International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovations and Technology “ITEX 2022” in Malaysia have won 13 international awards in a number of scientific fields.

At the exhibition, Saudi male and female students have won 6 major golden prizes in various scientific fields, including the field of automation and operations with the participation of Wissam Jaber Al-Maliki and Ismail Ibrahim Safrata; in the field of materials with the participation of Faisal Fahd Al-Mahish, in the field of information and communication technology and multimedia with the participation of Jana Ghassan Zakai, in the field of biotechnology and health with the participation of Amira Ali Al-Ajlan, and in the field of environment with the participation of Jana Suleiman Al-Rifi.

Saudi Male and female students also achieved two silver prizes in the field of environment with the participation of Maimouna Faeq Fatani, and in the field of materials with the participation of Mashari Abdullah Al-Dosari. Meanwhile Jana Ghassan Zakai, Amira Ali Al-Ajlan and Faisal Fahd Al-Mahish received special prizes from IETEX as the best innovation, and Maimouna Faeq Fatani and Jana Suleiman Al-Rifi received two honorary awards from the Gulf Patent Council.

ITEX 2022 is an international platform for attracting inventions and innovations in various fields, such as science and technology, aims at attracting interested innovators, inventors, investors and manufacturers in countries of the world to explore new inventions and innovations in different fields.

Director General of Civil Defense heads Saudi Arabia’s delegation to 7th Global Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction in Indonesia

Bali, Indonesia– Director General of Civil Defense, Lieutenant General Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Amro, has headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation participating in the Seventh Global Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction, titled “Transitioning from Risks to Resilience”, which kicked off in Indonesia.

Lieutenant General Al-Amro pointed out that the Kingdom participates with the international community in its efforts to protect societies and the environment, and that disasters are one of the biggest challenges facing development in countries of the world, noting its contributions to reducing disaster risks at the national, regional and international levels, as it took the initiative to adopt the objectives of the Sendai Framework, established National Risks Council, and prepared a national strategy to reduce disaster risks to achieve the goals and initiatives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its sustainable development goals.

The forum discussed diversity in disaster risk reduction leadership, improving understanding and managing systemic risks, unveiling the global assessment report, inclusive and resilient recovery in urban contexts, data challenges and solutions for disaster risk management, and the general meeting for the mid-term review of the Sendai Framework.

UNHCR Delegation Visits KSrelief Clinics in Zaatari Refugee Camp, Jordan

Amman– A delegation from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) visited the medical clinics of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief) in the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan, and reviewed the newly added occupational therapy department.

UNHCR visiting delegation praised the high-quality health services being provided by the KSrelief clinics to the Syrian refugees residing in the camp, which contributed to improving their living conditions and providing all the necessary medical care to the sick and injured of them.
