KSrelief’s Assistant General Supervisor Meets with Chairman of Peace Commission in Sudan

Riyadh– The Assistant General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) for Operations and Programs, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, met here today, with the Chairman of the Peace Commission in Sudan, Dr. Suleiman Adam Al-Dabailo.

During the meeting, they tackled a number of topics of common interest related to relief and humanitarian affairs.

Dr. Al-Dabailo valued the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the support and attention given to the Sudanese people.

Shura Council Speaker Participates in Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network

Riyadh– The Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network under the motto “Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development” has kicked off in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the participation of the Kingdom’s delegation headed by the Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, in the presence of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and the participation of Speakers of Parliaments of the Member States of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries.

President Aliyev, at the opening ceremony, welcomed the participating delegations, stressing that Azerbaijan will initiate the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement Support Office at the United Nations, which has received support from all members of the Non-Aligned Movement. The president said that the establishment of the Movement’s Support Office would play an important role in protecting the interests of the movement’s members in international forums, and enhancing solidarity among members, adding that joint parliamentary action would enhance bilateral relations between countries.

Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, said, in her speech at the conference, that the members of the Parliamentary Network of Non-Aligned Countries represent a great and influential force in the world, stressing that the world is going through changes that require parliamentarians to stand and work together.

During the conference, members of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement discussed the Baku declaration that will be issued by the conference, the system of working rules of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the approval of the organization’s logo and flag and the election of the Network’s president and deputies. The participants also listened to deliberations by several heads of international organizations, as well as heads of parliaments.

The Kingdom’s delegation participating in the conference includes Council member Dr. Hattan bin Abdul Karim Timraz, Council member Dr. Najwa Al-Ghamdi, and several council officials.

Minister of Education Meets with Turkish, Uzbek Counterparts

Paris– Minister of Education Dr. Hamad bin Mohammad Al-Sheikh met with Turkish Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Minister of Pre-school Education of Uzbekistan Agrippina Shin, as part of Al-Sheikh’s visit agenda to France to participate in the Transforming Education Pre-Summit and accompanying events at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

The meeting with Özer went over means to enhance existing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in educational, scientific and research fields, teaching of the Arabic language, and schools scholarships offered to serve citizens of the two countries.

Meanwhile, Al-Sheikh and his Uzbek counterpart discussed visions and recommendations about enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries in the early childhood field, voicing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s interest in the field through introducing early childhood on its agenda while heading G20 in 2020.

The minister’s meetings with Özer and Shin addressed the rich experience that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provided during the COVID-19 pandemic and the quick shift to online education without any interruption until overcoming the crisis and the flexible resumption of in-person education, where the meetings also went over means to adopt several development initiatives that would contribute to transforming and improving the quality of education at more advanced and comprehensive levels.
