The weekly video podcast features the unique stories of the FAST startup accelerator’s graduates – young entrepreneurs, innovators, and founders who are strengthening Africa’s digital ecosystem from the ground up.

Revolutionizing industry across the continent with AgriTech, EduTech, HealthTech and FinTech, the twelve startup founders featured in the FAST Founder Series podcast are graduates of the first FAST startup accelerator. They were chosen from more than 800 applicants representing 25 countries in Africa. The twelve entrepreneurs represent six countries and nine industries, and include two women founders. Each startup founder is tackling challenges that address the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including equality, education, and poverty reduction.

With a new episode released each week on Wednesdays, the series will delve into key topics for startup founders, including job creation, business formation, cloud computing and AI, and venture capital. Podcast viewers will learn how these individual entrepreneurs are leveraging technology to scale sustainable operations across Africa and around the world.

FAST accelerator participants study corporate governance, technology integration, funding strategies and community building opportunities designed to help them scale rapidly and sustainably. Microsoft engineers serve as business mentors, working one-on-one with accelerator participants. The participants also gain access to innovative technology tools and services, including Fast Portal, SME Marketplaces, Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub and Microsoft Azure.

More than 98000 pilgrims benefit from Makkah Route Initiative in five Countries

Makkah, July 13, 2022, SPA — As many as 98,816 pilgrims have benefited from Makkah Route Initiative which was launched by the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this year to enable pilgrims in five countries end their immigration, cargo and travel procedures to the holy sites before they depart for the Kingdom.

The service, emanating from the Kingdom’s vision 2030, was done through 274 flights from their countries to Jeddah King Abdulaziz international airport and Madina Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz international airport. They were coming from 58 stations of their countries with an average of finalizing the procedures of each passenger in one minute and 48 seconds.

The initiative was implemented in the airports of Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Morocco and Bangladesh.

Special Saudi teams were sent to each of those destinations to assist local staff finalize the procedures.

In a 12-video documentary film, Hajj journey was recorded by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah

Jeddah, July 13, 2022, SPA — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has produced a new 12-video documentary film, narrating the journey of pilgrimage to the holy shrines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was reported here today.

The journey also details the pillars and conditions of Hajj, including arrival to departure procedures required by each pilgrim to perform, starting with the putting-on the Ihram white dress, greeting Tawaf (circumambulation around the House of God (Kaaba), shuttle between Safa and Marwa mounts, ascending Tarweya day in Mina valley, one-day stay in Arafat valley, the night and Eid day in Muzdalefa, three-to-two day stay in Mina valley, slaughtering the sacrifice, Jamarat stone-throwing, Ifadha (main) Tawaf, prayer at Ibrahim shrine, putting-off the Ihram dress, farewell Tawaf and visit to Prophet’s mosque in Madinah and other.

Mobile medical clinics accompany pilgrims along Highway between Makkah and Madinah

Madinah– Mobile medical clinics accompany pilgrims along Hijrah (Immigration) Highway between Makkah and Madinah to follow up on their health status and provide medical services for them.

Madinah Health Cluster has equipped the mobile clinics with all operational requirements through scout clinics, medical devices, crews, nursing and technical cadres, and the provision of medicines. An ambulance was also equipped for clinics to transport beneficiaries in emergency medical cases.

It is noteworthy that the health teams of the mobile medical clinics on the Highway have provided medical services for 4,322 pilgrims during the pre-Hajj season for this year 1443 AH, during which 6 cases were transferred to Al-Hamnah General Hospital, and the mobile medical clinics continue to provide their services until the end of the month of Dhul Hijjah.

Saudi Press: US President’s visit to Kingdom

Riyadh– Saudi newspapers highlighted today in their editorials a number of issues at local and international arenas.

Al-Riyadh newspaper said that the first visit of US President Joe Biden to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gaining momentum as it is his first visit to the region, and that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first Arab country he visits and hosts the first Arab-American Summit of its kind, which comes in a delicate circumstance that must be dealt with according to consensual visions.

The paper noted that The Washington Post published an article by President Biden, titled “Why would I go to Saudi Arabia?” This is a few days before the visit, which will start tomorrow, saying “The Kingdom is one of the influential countries in the world, so his visit aims to strengthen and develop a strategic partnership based on the common interests and responsibilities between the two countries.”

The paper concluded that a number of bilateral, regional and global issues will be on the table during President Biden’s visit, and ways to expand economic, security and regional cooperation, including new and promising infrastructure, climate initiatives, and ensuring global energy and food security.

Groups of pilgrims flock to Madinah before leaving for their countries

Madinah, July 14, 2022, SPA– Groups of pilgrims are arriving in Madinah as the city gears up to receive them coming from Makkah after they performed the Hajj ritual this year with ease and safety.

The agencies operating within the Pilgrim Experience Program, and all service and health agencies, began implementing their plan for the post-Hajj season, as groups of pilgrims along the Hijra Highway linking Makkah and Madinah accompanied by field security troops that work to ensure the flow of traffic, and security around the clock, and intensifying automatic and human monitoring to ensure vehicles’ abidance to traffic regulations, not exceeding the speed limit, and following up the drivers, to achieve the security and safety of travelers, and preparing all services to take care of pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet’s Holy Mosque through an integrated system of efforts.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) witnessed the flow of buses arriving through the Madinah Gate on the Hijra Highway, and field measures taken to facilitate the movement of buses heading for the northern ports of the Kingdom, directly through the designated roads without entering the city, in addition to bus registration procedures., and facilitating the movement of pilgrims to hotels and residential places in the central region within a short time, in coordination with the field committees working in the Hajj under the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and other relevant authorities.

The majority of pilgrims are keen to visit Madinah before or after completing Hajj to pray in the Prophet’s Holy Mosque, and to have the honor of greeting the Messenger – peace be upon him – and his two companions – before leaving for their countries. Meanwhile, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport witnesses heavy departure movement after the Hajj as part of an action plan in which all concerned parties participate, to follow up the transfer of pilgrims from their residential areas through the designated buses, and to reach the airport well before the time of departure, to ensure the flow of flights of various local and international airlines, and the departure of the pilgrims to their homelands smoothly and safely.

More than 390,000 pilgrims have arrived in Madinah during the pre-Hajj season, while the concerned authorities resume their operations and services during the second season after Hajj, to achieve a safe and successful Hajj season in all aspects.

More than 27,000 pilgrims arrived in Madinah until yesterday

Madinah– As many as 27,360 pilgrims arrived in Madinah until yesterday evening after performing Hajj this year, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on movement of receiving and leaving pilgrims in Madinah reported in its statistics.

According to the statistics, 1,576 pilgrims have left Madinah through Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport.

KSrelief Clinics Continue Providing Medical Services in Zaatari Camp for in Jordan

Amman, Jul 14, 2022, SPA — The clinics of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has continued to provide their medical services in the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan.

The clinics paid yesterday a visit to 599 patients with various diseases, where the general medicine clinics received 190 patients who were examined and the necessary medicines were given to them.

As many as 29 patients with diabetes, hypertension and asthma have visited the internal clinic, the pediatric clinics received 180 patients, the emergency department received 28 patients and 43 patients visited the dental clinic.

Also, 59 patients were received in the women’s clinic, while the ear and nose clinic received 31 patients, 140 analysis were performed for 74 patients with various types of laboratory analysis, 49 x-rays were performed for 34 patients, 41 vaccinations were given to 18 patients, and medicine for diseases was given to 10 patients, while the total number of prescriptions registered in the pharmacy was 455.

Funded By KSrelief, Lebanese Subul Al Salam Social Association Carries out 37 Operations in A Week

Beirut, Jul 14, 2022, SPA — Funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), the ambulance service of Subul Al Salam Social Association in the Miniyeh district in the north governorate of Lebanon carried out 37 emergency missions during the past week.

The missions varied between transporting patients to and from hospitals and providing ambulance services to those injured in traffic accidents in Miniyeh district.

This comes within the framework of the project to support services and ambulance transport in refugee areas.

Riyadh– Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, graced here this evening France Embassy party celebrating its country’s National Day which took place at the ambassador’s residence in the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh.

The Prince was received upon arrival at the venue by the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ludovic Pouille and a number of senior embassy staff.

The event was also attended by the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Consular Affairs Tamim Al-Dosary, the Director General of the General Directorate for European Countries at the Foreign Ministry Sultan Al-Khuzaim and a number of diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia Reports First Case of Monkeypox for A Person Coming from Abroad

Riyadh, Jul 14, 2022, SPA — The Ministry of Health announced today (Thursday) the detection of a case of monkeypox for a person returning from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically in the city of Riyadh.

The Ministry assures everyone that the case is subject to thoroughly medical care in accordance with the approved health procedures, in addition to identifying those who have been in contact with the infected person, yet none of them showed symptoms.

The Ministry confirmed its continuation of monitoring and follow-up work on the developments of monkeypox and announcing in all transparency about any cases that are detected, citing its readiness and ability to deal with any development of the disease.

The Ministry of Health recommends that everyone follow health instructions, especially during travel, through its official channels, as well as the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) or contact the Center (937) in case of any inquiries regarding monkeypox virus.
