Algeria, Sudan, Yemen and Tunisia Qualify for the Semi-finals of Arab Juniors Soccer Cup

Riyadh, Aug. 29, 2022, SPA — Algeria, Sudan, Yemen and Tunisia national teams have qualified for the semi-finals of the 4th Arab Juniors Championship 2022, currently ongoing in the Algerian city of Oran, it was reported here today.

In the first group, host Algeria won UAE three love while Sudan beat Palestine with the same result in the same group.

In the second group, Tunisia beat Oman 2 – 1, while Yemen and Libya drew one all.

Accordingly, Algeria topped the standing of the first group with full mark, followed by Sudan with six points while UAE and Palestine sharing the bottom of the group with one point each.

Accordingly, Yemen topped the group with five points, an aggregate shared with Tunisia who qualified as second according to fair play over Libya third who also shared them the same points, and pointless Oman last.

Governor of Asir Region Receives Italy’s Consul General

Abha, Saudi Arabia,– Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Asir Region, has received in his office here the Consul General of the Republic of Italy Dr. Leonardo Kosta, it was reported today.

During the meeting, which took place on Monday, cordial talks were exchanged, ways of promoting bilateral relations between the two countries discussed and issues of mutual interest of the two sides reviewed.

Weather Forecast for Tueday

Riyadh– The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued its daily forecast report for the weather in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The report said that the thundershowers, accompanied by active winds, are still forecasted to fall on the regions of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, extending to Makkah and Medina regions.

The report showed that the surface wind movement in the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly on northern part, and southwesterly to northwesterly on southern and central parts, at speed of 15-30km/h, while the surface wind movement in the Arabian Gulf will be northeasterly to southeasterly at speed of 15-25km/h.

OIC Secretary General Urges Iraqi Parties to Excercise Self-restraint

Jeddah– The Secretary General of Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Ibrahim Taha said today that his organization is closely following the dangerous incidents taking place in Iraq.

In a statement, OIC urged all Iraqi parties involved in the conflict to excercise self-restraint, stop violence, evade escalation and give priority to the higher national interest against any other consideration for the sake of protecting the security, stability and safety of the people of Iraq.

OIC confirmed standing by the side of the government and people of Iraq in whatever aims at preserving the security and stability of the country, said the statement.

UNHCR MENA Mid-Year Regional Cash Assistance Update (January – June 2022)

Key Highlights

2.2 million unique individuals reached with all modalities? of cash assistance from January to June 2022.

out of which:

2 million unique individuals were reached with multi-purpose cash assistance, and 205,000 individuals assisted with other types of sectoral cash assistance, including grants towards education, livelinoods, health and shelter.

$121.3 million distributed via all modes of cash assistance from January to June 2022, out of which $78 million was to Syrians and $43.3 million to people of other nationalities.

An additional 1.5 million individuals received $26.2 million in cash assistance for winterization in 2022. For more information, please refer to the Final Report for UNHCR’ 2021-2022 Regional Winterization Assistance Plan for the Syria and Iraq Situations.

Background and operational highlights

During the first half of 2022, cash assistance was implemented in 14 MENA operations? as well as Túrkiye,* all of which delivered multi- purpose cash assistance (MPCA) for basic needs. In addition, livelinood grants were delivered in Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco and Túrkiye, health grants in Egypt and Jordan, education grants in Egypt, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco and Túrkiye, and shelter grants in Lebanon and Yemen.

Other sectoral support such as Cash for Protection (GBV/UASC) and Cash for Work were delivered in Egypt and Jordan, as well as cash support for Voluntary Repatriation in Mauritania.

Contributions from the private sector towards UNHCR'”s growing Refugee Zakat Fund also continued, with approximately $18.5 million raised as of mid-year. In MENA, this is providing ongoing support to people of concern in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania and Yemen.

TDF Signs MoU with Jahez Company to Provide Credit Facilities to Jahez’s Clients to Enhance Restaurants and Cafés Sector’s Activities in Tourist Destinations

Riyadh– The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) signed here today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jahez company, which is specialized in providing delivery services for restaurants and cafés. Through the MoU, the TDF will provide its financing solutions and provide the opportunity to obtain financing and investment facilities for Jahez clients of micro and small enterprises, which amount to more than 45,000 facilities operating in the restaurants and cafés sector, with the aim of expanding its activities in the targeted tourist areas and destinations, and to ensure its sustainability and business continuity in those areas, in accordance with the National Tourism Strategy.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the TDF’s CEO, Qusay bin Abdullah Al-Fakhri, and the CEO of Jahez, Eng. Ghasab Al-Mandeel. This signing comes within the framework of the TDF’s keenness to develop tourism projects in the Kingdom, and to support and encourage the private sector, especially micro and small enterprises, which constitute more than 90% of the tourism sector, with the aim of achieving the objectives of the National Tourism Strategy, and developing tourist destinations that enjoy competitive advantages, in accordance with the national goals of tourism and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

On this occasion, Al-Fakhri, said: “The signing of the MoU with Jahez reflects the keenness of the TDF to support, empower and encourage the private sector, especially micro and small enterprises, by facilitating procedures, providing financing solutions and providing the necessary support to ensure business sustainability, in order to achieve the National Tourism Strategy and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.”

For his part, Eng. Ghasab Al-Mandeel, said: “By signing the MoU with the TDF, we hope to provide everything possible to enhance the role of the restaurants and cafés in tourism sector in the Kingdom, support investors and enable them to expand their activities in tourist destinations, and encourage them to continue and progress”.

CITC: Extending final period for beneficiaries of group SMS service to register sender names

Riyadh– The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has called on all beneficiaries from group SMS service to contact contracted SMS service providers to register sender names at the e-system before the end of the final period that was extended to September 30, 2022, so as to avoid the halt of accredited services on the SMS service, where any SMS that does not have the sender name on the system will not be sent.

The commission said that the new procedures is part of its role in regulating the sector and protecting users against the misuse of group SMS and fraud SMS, noting that the grace period was extended in consideration for the interests of public and beneficiary institutions, where CITC has set this final extension to register all the existing names of senders and receive all requirements of the registration after it worked with SMS service providers to register sender names for beneficiaries and document them through an e-system via the block chain since March 20, 2022.

The commission highlighted the importance for all beneficiaries to contact all contracted SMS providers and provide them with the required data and documents so as to avoid any interruption of services that rely on the SMS service, noting that it will hold no legal responsibility for any possible shortcoming resulting from halting SMS due to lack of commitment to registering sender names on the system.

Riyadh– The Chairman of Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, visited here today the Joint Forces Command of Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen.

Upon his arrival at the venue, he was received by the Commander of the Joint Forces, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Mutlaq bin Salem Al-Azima, and a number of officials at the Coalition.

Dr. Al-Alimi was briefed on the efforts of the Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in support of Yemen, its people and leadership, and listened to a detailed explanation about the tasks and the current situation.

Dr. Al-Alimi expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for their support to Yemeni people and standing with them in various fields to restore security and stability.

Dr. Al Rabeeah Meets with Sri Lankan Minister of Environment

Riyadh– Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah met here today with Special Envoy of the Sri Lankan President, Minister of Environment of Sri Lanka Naseer Ahamed.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in humanitarian and relief projects, provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the KSrelief, for the Sri Lankan people, which have so far reached 11 projects in various sectors. They also discussed aspects of cooperation between them to serve humanitarian and relief works in Sri Lanka.

The Minister of Environment of Sri Lanka praised the distinguished humanitarian work of the KSrelief in the field of humanitarian work.

KSrelief Concludes Voluntary Program to Combat Blindness in Bangladesh

Dhaka– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) concluded today the voluntary medical program to combat blindness and its diseases in Bangladesh, within the “Noor Saudi Arabia” voluntary program.

Since the campaign started, the KSrelief’s voluntary medical team has medically examined 5,155 cases, distributed 1,513 glasses, and performed 544 surgeries.

This campaign is part of the projects related to combating blindness, implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the KSrelief’s, targeting families with low incomes in several countries.
