KSrelief’s Masam Project Dismantles 1,030 Mines within a Week in Yemen

Aden– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Project (Masam) for clearing mines in Yemen, dismantled, during the second week of September 2022, a total of 1,030 mines planted by the Houthi militia across Yemen, including 26 anti-personnel mines, 123 anti-tank mines, 880 unexploded ordnance and one explosive device.
Since the beginning of the project, as many as 357,788 mines have been dismantled.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, seeks through the project to clear Yemeni lands of the mines that were randomly planted by the Houthi militia causing death and injury of innocent children, women, and the elderly.

Global AI Summit Witnesses Inauguration of Joint Research Center for AI between SDAIA, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals

Riyadh– Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), in cooperation with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, has inaugurated a joint research center, during the 2nd Global AI Summit that is being held in Riyadh between September 13 and 15.

The joint research center seeks to improve all branches of AI to instill the status of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a global pioneer among data-based economies through conducting and supporting research and innovation in this field according to national priorities to realize the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.

President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals Dr. Mohammed Al-Saqqaf said: the university is proud of its partnership with SDAIA through the new center for research and development in data and AI, noting that this step will make the university play a role in developing the economy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to occupy a decent rank in the world as a competitor rather than just a participant in the new global digital economy.

For his part, Chief Executive Officer of National Center for Artificial Intelligence (NCAI), the innovative arm at SDAIA, Dr. Majid Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri said that the joint center will be a starting point towards a successful cooperation with the university to provide innovative solutions in various fields via benefiting from AI in the new data age.

The center seeks to provide adequate infrastructure for AI research, attract, support and train talents in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field, and develop means of using AI in all sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, such as the energy, industrial, educational, and health sectors.

OIC Participates in 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions

Jeddah– The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has participated in the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which is held under the title “The Role of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the Spiritual and Social Development of Humanity in the Post-Pandemic Period.” The Congress activities began yesterday in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan.

In his speech during the conference, the Secretary-General of the Organization, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, pointed out that OIC is always keen to play an effective role in enriching dialogue between religions, cultures and civilizations, which would bridge the gap that divides peoples of different religions, cultures and civilizations.

He added that the convening of the Congress provides an opportunity to discuss and review the current global challenges in the post-pandemic period.

STC, SDAIA sign MoU to develop digital technologies and artificial intelligence

Riyadh– STC Group and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “SDAIA”, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement several national initiatives related to digital technologies and artificial intelligence, as part of the two sides’ participation in the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit held in Riyadh.

The memorandum aims to develop and research artificial intelligence and relevant enabling technologies, localize them, and exchange experiences and knowledge in data management and governance. It also seeks to benefit from the (inspireU) program by participating in activities to spread the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, support emerging projects, support STC in raising the quality of its data per international best practices and help it adhere to data governance and personal data protection system.

The agreement also seeks to localize artificial intelligence and develop algorithmic assets, contribute to accelerating the rate of compliance with data regulations at the national level and activate awareness messages to protect personal data.

The MoU will allow charities listed on the Ehsan platform to benefit from the technical package services available on the STC Sustainability Platform and cooperate to support and enable projects and programs in the non-profit sector adopted by SDAIA, develop environmental services and products, and a specialized volunteer project, and provide tests to measure and evaluate the capabilities and competencies of trainees. The memorandum includes guidelines for exchanging experiences and knowledge, providing consultations, and exploring career development opportunities and programs through the STC Academy to accelerate the development of young people in data and artificial intelligence.

The CEO of the STC Group, Eng. Olayan Al-Wetaid, said, “the group’s partnership with SDAIA emanates from the group’s role in enabling the digital system for artificial intelligence, through the dissemination of research and development, and the enhancement of digital capabilities through strategic partnerships to accelerate the stages of transformation and transition towards accreditation on artificial intelligence to support the digital economy in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030”.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Lower at 11,829 Points

Riyadh– Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower here today, losing 63.73 points to close at 11,829.54 points.
The total value of the trading reported was SAR 7 billion, while the toll of shares traded was 162 million, divided into over 280,000 deals.
The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day gaining 72.47 points, to close at 20,924.05 points, with a valuation of SAR 25.5 million and an overall tally of more than 470,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 2,823 deals.

KACST, Qassim University cooperate to conduct research and technical development

Riyadh– King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Qassim University, represented by Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal Chair for Artificial Intelligence, signed an agreement today to enhance partnership in research and technical development, in the presence of KACST President, Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud Al-Desouki, and the President of Qassim University, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood.
The agreement, which was signed at the Global AI Summit, aims to enhance technical cooperation and research to support technical applications and their uses in medical care, environment, agriculture, renewable energy, cybersecurity, processing computer applications for the Arabic language, Quran and Sunnah sciences, smart cities and the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and data analysis.
The two parties will cooperate to conduct research and technical development, and activate and utilize data and artificial intelligence to support the research and development system. The cooperation will also activate the role of relevant authorities, centers, and units to benefit from expertise and experiences and to combine efforts in the areas of partnership.
The agreement provides for the development and support of ideas for conducting research, applications, and products using digital technology, in addition to supporting scientific publishing and research and development efforts, and supporting the participation of male and female students and members of educational bodies in supporting and developing research and innovation fields.

KSrelief Concludes its Participation in GSSD Expo 2022 in Bangkok

Bangkok– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) concluded its participation in the Global South-South Development Expo (GSSD Expo 2022), which was held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, from 12 to 14 September, 2022.
On the closing day of the GSSD Expo 2022, Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Thailand Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili visited the KSrelief’s pavilion participating in the GSSD Expo 2022. He was briefed on the relief and humanitarian aid provided by the Kingdom through the KSrelief, which amounted to 2,086 projects in 86 countries around the world in cooperation with 175 international, regional and local partners.
It is worth mentioning that GSSD Expo 2022 aims to enhance South-South cooperation for sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 epidemic and addressing food insecurity and other global challenges.

KSrelief Distributes 70 Tons of Food Aid to People affected by Drought in Banaadir Region, Somalia

Mogadishu, September 15, 2022, SPA– King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed yesterday 70 tons of food aid to the displaced and drought-affected people in Gersbali district, Banaadir Region, in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, benefiting 6,000 people.
This is a part of the second phase of the Kingdom’s urgent intervention to fulfil the humanitarian needs of people affected by drought in Somalia; to support food and nutrition programs for children, to provide water and shelter for the displaced people as well as life-saving emergency programs.

SDAIA and Google Cloud Launch “Elevate” Program to Empower 25,000 Women in World’s Emerging Markets in Field of AI

Riyadh– The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) and Google Cloud have announced a new collaboration aimed at enabling women in the world to practice new jobs in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning in emerging markets by training more than 25,000 women over the next five years.
The collaboration includes a program offers a 4-month education and training curriculum developed in collaboration with Google Cloud. The participants will have access to free training sessions designed to provide them with the skills and experience needed for roles such as cloud engineer, data engineer, and machine learning engineer.
This came during the second Global AI Summit, held at King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh from 13 to 15 September, 2022.
